and from wikipedia:

Variations of bin Laden's name

There is no universally accepted standard in the West for transliterating Arabic words and names into English, so bin Laden's name is spelled in many different ways. The version translation most often used by English-language mass media is Osama bin Laden. Most American government agencies, including the FBI and CIA, use either "Usama bin Laden" or "Usama bin Ladin", both of which are often abbreviated to UBL. Less common renderings include "Ussamah Bin Ladin" and "Oussama Ben Laden" (French-language mass media). The last two words of the name can also be found as "Binladen" or (as used by his family in the West) "Binladin". The spelling with "o" and "e" comes from a Persian-influenced pronunciation used in Afghanistan where he lived for a long time.

Strictly speaking, Arabic linguistic conventions dictate that he be referred to as "Osama" or "Osama bin Laden", not "bin Laden", as "Bin Laden" is not used as a surname in the Western manner, but simply as part of his name, which in its long form means "Osama, son of Mohammed, son of 'Awad, son of Laden". Still, "bin Laden" has become nearly universal in Western references to him.

Bin Laden's admirers commonly use several aliases and nicknames, including the Prince/Al-Amir, the Sheikh, Abu Abdallah, Sheikh Al-Mujahid, the Lion Sheik,[7] the Director.[8]

Whether he deserves credit or not, it happened under Obama not Bush's reign.

Bush and a Republican congress however got us into an a multi trillion dollar war with a country that has nothing to do with Al Qaeda, and that's what he'll be remembered for.

Kinda ironic, the announcement comes 8 years to the day after Bush announced 'Mission Accomplished'!!
:\

Oh and they are saying that it was a special ops raid...not a drone strike. They don't know if it was in Pakistan or on the border.

Got goosebumps right now. You would think that the wars would surely be over now. Osama is dead, that is a victory enough for me. Lets hope...

NBC is saying Special Ops got him, not a drone strike.

More satisfying, IMO.

On the East Coast, Trump was interrupted right around the time someone was gonna get fired. Obama gets a win/win out of this. If anything, the media stole the spotlight from Pres.Obama. I would have loved to have heard it from Pres. Obama first. To me, it would have just been better that way.

Who's voting Obama for next term? Cat's in the bag?

Nah...

1. The American attention span won't last past the end of the week much less into 2012
2. This is the result of a 10 year manhunt.

I'm glad BL dead but this issue will have little to do with Obama keeping/losing the white house next year.

Now if he keeps scoring head shot after head shot and the rest of the wanted folks out there start falling, that's a different story.
