That date for El Capitan is kind of irrelevant as the GM was released well before that.

For me, El Capitan totally killed Office 2011 (it hangs when it goes to check email in Outlook). This would not be a big deal on my home computer but is a catastrophe at work. I also found that for some reason I couldn't cleanly restore from a pre-EC Time Machine backup, meaning that I had to do a clean install of Yosemite and re-configure everything. Ugh . . .

There was an Office update that came out on 10/7 that fixes the compatibility issues with EC. Works great now......

there any known issues with el capitan? my macbook came today and i believe it has yosemite on it, but i plan on opening it and upgrading to el capitan instantly, then loading it with a time machine backup from my hackintosh. but if there are some major issues with it, i'll hold off on upgrading to it.
