Im posting positions here again. You can go here to look at the listings. They do not have a very good description for some reason. Anyway, the difference between before and now is I am the hiring manager. I am looking for people with Windows 200x Server experience. Our product uses SMTP, SQL, coded in ASP and C++ and plugs in with any SMTP email server. we also archive off to a SAN or jukebox so this would be helpful as well.

It says a college degree required but experience will work as well. You can PM me questions or email your resume at cmurray

Edited for:
Position is in Reston, Va., we will not pay relocation fees. Pay is based on experience.

Hi Everyone,

Believe it or not, I just came to these forums to do some research on best practices done by some forums (the company I work for will be launching their own shortly). I also used to post here on a regular basis (under a different name; I am not using that name because it was a *branded* name affiliated with my old employer. My new company is actually a job search company - one I am not going to post (unless requested) because I don't want to be accused of being a troll:)

I did, however, want to ask a couple of questions:

1. What do you look for when you are searching for a job through the internet (search quality, etc.)?
2. What type(s) of features do you find helpful/not helpful when doing a job search (email alerts, etc.)?

Thanks, in advance, for any replies.

Regards,
Damon

I work for Washington Mutual, a big bank (2,500+ branches) based in Seattle.

One of the groups that I work very closely with is looking for an "automation engineer". In essence, this person helps develops tools, scripts, processes and general methodologies to assist in the management of a very large infrastructure. They do a lot of work with load balancers, proxies, Unix and Windows servers and a lot of applications.

Too many vendors fall short on true enterprise management tools or their tools don't adequately meet our needs and we often find that we have to integrate other tools or write our own custom ones. Lots of Shell scripting, heavy Perl is good. The more you know about load balancers, the better.

WaMu is a very good place to work - Salary is very competitive, benefits are quite good, and, most of all, the hiring manager for this job is an amazingly cool guy and great to work for. One of those bosses that you've always wanted who is a great guy and fun to be around, has very solid techincal skills but is very well respected for his business sense.

If you're interested in more details, PM me and I'll get you the info. Don't apply through the normal process as it's easy to get lost.

Note: I have no idea what kind of relocation benefits are available - Something to ask if you're interested and not in Seattle.

Raytheon (US Defense Contractor) is always looking for qualified professionals. My location is North Texas (Dallas area.)

If you have at least a bachelor's degree and 3+ years employment experience in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Engineering, etc, just send me a PM or email and we'll discuss getting your resume submitted. (College grads already have a relatively easy path for interviewing, so experienced professionals only, please.)

Like someone mentioned earlier, "cold" resume submittals take quite a while to process. I'm just a regular employee (not HR) but we have an awesome referal program that benefits both parties. You'll get your resume into the hands of HR and a hiring manager almost immediately, and if hired, the employee (me) gets a cash bonus.

Bonus points if you already have a DoD clearance (Secret or Top Secret.)

If anyone needs any help in the trading industry in Chicago, I can probably help get your resume in front of a few firms.

In the mean time, oddtodd will always rule the land of the unemployed: http://picapic.net/media/V6GZQJP84Q8GV4

PaulNEPats, I'd too the business analyst role - it has more upside potential - you'll be learning more about the business a company is doing rather than just learning how to click things ina certain order. I think that the business analyst role will be more flexible in the long run in terms of letting you branch out into other areas if you want to. The testing role is really a pigeon holed role.

I dont know for sure, but I'd also be willing to be that the BA role will pay more (if not in the short term, definetly in the long)

I'm throwing out a bone, but I'm in desperate need of a new job to pursue other opportunities.

I'm in Austin, TX, but I'm willing to relocate to other areas of Texas, including Dallas / Ft. Worth, Greater Houston Area, San Antonio, and pretty much anywhere else within reasonable distance to the Central Texas area.

I have a mixed background, having had 7+ years of experience. I was in the tech sector for about 5 years doing work for BMC Software and the ITS dept at UT-Austin. In 2003, I branched off to the business side and have been a Project Manager / Business Analyst for a company that started in 2000.

I've consistently put in more than 50 hours week to help this company grow from 10 to 115 employees, and we're still counting. It's been a fun ride, but I'd like to try other things for other companies.

My education includes a B.A. in Linguistics, a B.A. in Asian Languages and Cultures, Japanese, and a Minor in Business Administration.

Please send a PM, and I'll be happy to provide a resume, references, or any other information that'll help me get a new job. Thanks!
