I'm currently a Junior EE major at Boston University looking for a summer internship in NJ or even NYC. I've sent my resume out to no avail.

Anyone with any info or connections, let me know either by PM or email.

Thanks.

The job market is picking up at least some in the IT sector. Interviewed extensively with 2 companies and it seems that both of them are going to give me an offer. I have another interview with another company on monday where I am scheduled to meet with 5 people each of whom will grill me for 30min each. I hope to evaluate which one of these will be the better option for me.
Good luck to all. Brush up on your skills if you are looking for an IT job.

I was contacted about a Systems Support Specialist position at BJs Wholesale Corporate HQ. I had applied for a different position with them, but the lack of experience was a sticking point. They said I would be more suited to this position. The only thing that worries me is being stuck behind a help desk for a few years while not gaining any real, usable experience. What are your thoughts on working at a Help Desk? Should I keep looking?

Help Desk especially at a Corporate HQ's could be a good start. It could literally be the old start at the bottom of the Corp Ladder type of thing.

If you feel comfortable with the slot, take it. Then after you have proved yourself in that positioni, start asking what you should do to be qualified and/or help out in the type of position that you were originally interested in.

At a corporate HQ, you will need to show enthusiasim and willingness to step forward in order to move ahead.

Depends on what your experience is like and if you want to stay in the corporate sector. I personally do not like the politics or BS affiliated with large, bureaucratic organizations. I work for a small corporation where my efforts directly affect the bottom line. If we go IPO or hit it big, my bonus will likely exceed my yearly salary several times over. You dont have that kind of potential in the corporate world. On the other hand, you can slack off in the corporate sector, go home at 3pm on a friday, etc. and there really isn't much danger in the company losing profits, or worse, going under.

Anyways she doesn't know I'm posting this but if anyone has any leads for legal positions in Seattle that would be great. She's open to pretty much anything not just attorney.

Some of the suggestions for IT searching also apply to other fields.

Look through posts for other job boards that you can look at.

Also, have her contact the Wash State Bar Association for guidance on where/how to look.

I'd first like to say what a great thread! I almost forgot it was here and browsing through it, I'm just wowed.

Personally I'm looking for an internship in the Raleigh/Durham/RTP area. I'm a Senior getting my Computer Engineering & Electrical Engineering degrees finishing my third year at NCSU. Just trying to get some kind of engineering internship for the summer/fall/whatever. The odd thing is I would also be interested in any sales/marketing/business internships in some kind of engineering or technology related field, as I'm planning on getting my MBA instead of an MS.
Thanks in advance if anyone has any suggestions/help/contacts :)

Guys, I need advice. I interviewed with a company on campus in October, and then did some tests (compatibility, etc) in early December, and then had an on-site interview in late December.

They told me they'd have a decision around the middle of January, and then they called me back (I left a message thanking them for the interview) and they said they'd get back to me mid march. They said that they needed to hire some graduate students first, then they would get around to undergraduate decisions.

The same company was at a career fair late Febuary, and my "boss" wasn't there, but the general manager who I talked to at the site visit was, and I told him to pass on the word that I was still very interested. We bs'd for a bit, then I left.

It's past mid march :(

Should I call them in April? (preferribly not the first ;) )

Yes. Its very easy for busy people, esp in a large corporation, to lose track of the "little" things. Chances are they would more appreciate you reminding them. My $0.02
