Thanks for all the replies!

I've decided to get the Sandisk Ultra II 1GB CF. I can't make it to COSTCO today, where it's for $75, so I'll have to get it from NewEgg.

I'll consider getting the 50mm f/1.8 lens if I have money left over.

:) Thanks for all the input!

I have an 8.2MP 20D and can only get about 120 photos on a 512. The file size really depends on ISO settings as well. ISO3200 photos are usually around 4.25mb and ones that are at 100 or 200 are usually around 2.25mb.

I'd recommend exactly what he got. a 1gb Ultra II

What would the 50mm lens that was previously mentioned be especially good for? I used it with a friend's 300D and the pictures came out quite sharp.

Portraits mainly, but can be used as a landscape or "scene" lens. I'll be using it for basketball shots in the dimly lit gym i have to take pics in. It's an immaculate lens. One I think every photog should have (Canon users anyway). Really what you use it for depends on what you want to do with it. There are really not set uses for any lens.

Yeah, a lot of people are recommending that lens. Seems stupid not to get it at such a great price (~$80)

I agree with ElFenix on the 1.8 lens. The problem with the standard one that comes in the kit is the 3.5 (hardly ever) aperture. And I like Lexar's CF cards, very reliable.
