As was pointed out elsewhere it appears Trump has stumbled onto the idea that when national security is involved the president’s powers are at their strongest so now he’s claiming literally everything is a national security issue.

Comes down again to the question of what our government is supposed to do when the chief executive has zero interest in acting in good faith.
