Nothing like telling people prices will go up as you do everything in your power to make it clear to all that you are directly responsible for that happening, and that your administration is shown to be living lives of unnecessary excess (Gatsby parties, Kash Patel, wasting money on slick videography for your human rights abuses...).
This is just going to be quietly ended or thrown out later anyway. First and foremost speech and debate makes him immune. Oh also what he said is literally true and amounts to him just telling the military to follow the law.

I’ve heard rumors of a major cabinet reshuffle in the works that will almost certainly take place before the next SOTU speech. But I’ve also heard rumors that the people you think should be “out” are actually digging in (*cough* Hegseth, Miller, RFK Jr., even Gabbard.) Supposedly they’re doubling down on fascists while bringing in “new blood” for Treasury, Commerce, Labor and the various business councils.
Even if they did succeed in initiating a court martial, the best defense beyond "speech and debate clause" is improper command influence. As the leader of the Department of Defense, putting your thumb so publicly on the scale makes that the inevitable outcome.
They're just upset that they are losing and people hate them.
