Yea pretty amusing he makes national and international decision based on what some MAGA blogger spits out.... I suppose one of these days they will spit out that England has launched nukes at USA and he will order retaliation strikes..... or the French are suppressing the English language and launch an all out attack.

Staggering that there hasnt been made a global governments social media where only gov has write access, funded by gov and hosted decentralized, in a format that could be extended by say twitter so that we could host town halls about subjects but not directly reply to Xi or otherwise. Hosted decentralized of course. Or commonly over a public ledger of sorts(blockchain).

A Michigan defense lawyer is disputing FBI Director Kash Patel’s allegations that his 20-year-old client and four other young suspects were planning to carry out a terror attack on Halloween weekend.

The investigation involved discussion in an online chat room involving at least some of the suspects who were taken into custody, according to two people briefed on the investigation who could not publicly discuss details. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The group allegedly discussed carrying out an attack around Halloween, referring to “pumpkin day,” according to one of the people. The other person briefed on the investigation confirmed that there had been a “pumpkin” reference.

However, lawyer Amir Makled, who represents a man from the suburb of Dearborn who was still detained on Saturday, said federal authorities haven’t given him many details about the investigation but after reviewing the matter, he concluded that no terror event was planned. He said he doesn’t expect any charges will be filed.


He described the all-male group of U.S. citizens as gamers, and said they range in age from 16 to 20.

“If these young men were on forums that they should not have been on or things of that nature, then we’ll have to wait and see,” Makled said. “But I don’t believe that there’s anything illegal about any of the activity they were doing.”

I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or suggest this discussion point here, but what do people think about this: when the GQP reaches peak fascism, what happens to approval ratings?

The possibilities I can think of:
1 - Unapproved approval ratings being published are pursued and shut down by the government through multiple means.
2 - The GQP has an 'approved' ratings organisation that they will happily quote because it gives Donald the validation he perpetually seeks, and while other ratings organisations continue to publish ratings, they are labelled by the government as fake news etc. A softer approach because squeezing too hard on 'free speech' will inevitably have consequences.

We are kind of already at number 2. They frequently quote trash pollsters like Rasmussen, RMG, etc. and omit high quality polls. And the base will immediately dismiss anything unfavorable to him as fake news.

Trump and co don’t seem terribly interested in garnering the favor of anyone outside of their tent.
