There are plenty of of examples of other oppressive regimes falling with minimal or no violence: South Korea's dictatorship, many of the Warsaw Pact governments at the end of the Cold War, Ukraine in the mid 2010s...
Yeah but the fact that the author of that tweet brought up the third Reich kind of sets a bar that they believe needs in order to be a reasonable comparison against what we're dealing with, which probably indicates the level of proportional response required to oust.

You don't get to say 'this is just like hitler!' while also saying 'it's okay though we'll vote him out!'.

I might also remind you specifically that Ukraine is in the middle of a half-decade long war that's got a direct line back to the breakup of the USSR, and that includes them dealing with their former government. None of this shit happens in a vacuum and there will be consequences no matter what happens (thanks everyone who voted R in 2012 - 2020).

Where did I say everything is fine and we can vote him out and wipe our hands? I'm just saying people should stop completely doom posting and acting like nothing can be done, so just give up.

And Ukraine is in a war because their neighbor instigated an insurrection and invaded. Let's not pretend it was a wholly internally driven conflict.

Not sure that you specifically did, but that's the notion I get when someone says something as relatively absurd as 'we survived the 3rd reich and we will survive this one'. I think for many the doom is that we're aware of what is coming based on history, and it's going to be ugly, regardless of the outcome.

Yeah ukraine got invaded, but you can't claim that they dealt with their government with zero bloodshed if they got invaded immediately after, and invaded even harder just a few years later.

The point is these government models are not stable long-term. And there is a sliding scale between "third Reich" and "other authoritarian regimes". And the doomers are not accounting for the fact that incompetent boobs are currently in charge that are intent on hitting state capacity and making lots of people extremely unhappy. That is simply not a recipe for success.

Yeah, they got invaded ***by their neighbor*** who wanted to annex a part of their territory and bring back the whole spheres of influence world model. You're blaming Ukrainians for having the gall to toss out their corrupt government. "They wouldn't have been invaded if they just put up with the corruption."

Absolutely not, I'm stating that tossing out this government is not going to be all ticker tape parades and handjobs, the rot has sunken in already, and it's not going away with the midterms, 2026, or likely at all. We'll be riding this fuck train until climate change kills us all.

There's a middle ground between the "we'll survive this" and "we're all going to die", and it's the most likely scenario.

The winding down the US as an Empire into regions of more democracy/less democracy and outright feudal states.

Places like Mississippi and Arkansas are already feudal states lite. I'm sure at some point the people of Arkansas will all be issued some Huckabee-descendent photos to hang in their homes right next to their state-issued crosses embossed with Ring cams.

Places like the West Coast Health Alliance will have a more democratic form of government most civically-literate Americans today will recognize.

Collapse isn't an event, it's a process.

The current elites in power who've convinced some of the dumbest fucking Americans to have ever existed that they aren't elites and are fighting for them, are starting to have some real long-term success in winding down the US as an Empire, with obvious help from Russia, Hungary, and other Ur-neo-feudal states around the world.
