Do I think he knows this is bullshit? Probably. Though he's cooked his brain so much with right wing online bile that it sorta doesn't matter because he agrees philosophically with it. He also is unable to modulate his output depending on who he is in front of like her regularly steps in it with foreign audiences who are not corresponding with Adolf884eva on Twitter or whoever.
It's certainly possible that he knows this is a lie and doesn't care - he's of low enough character to do that. That being said I keep hearing about how this guy is smart and I genuinely cannot think of a single thing he's done that indicates he is, you know, actually smart.

He wrote a book that got positive reviews (including, apparently, from liberals). He's also far less liable to produce rambling word-salad nonsense than the most obvious comparator (a low bar, to be sure).

So he's at least average-or-above on linguistic skills. But he could still be an articulate idiot. I wonder if he realised as he was making this claim that it was hard-to-defend but decided to press on regardless?

Yes, his book was quite well received, although I've never read it, but I also don't think writing a memoir and being smart are the same thing. Also, I do not think 'not being in the throes of active dementia' is evidence of intelligence, haha.

I mean who knows, he's certainly risen quite high but I genuinely can't think of a single thing I've seen him do that demonstrates intelligence.

I'm not sure about that. All major US media outlets reported on the security concerns related to a private email server ad nauseum for months. I suspect they have tons of stories queued up about all the massive security lapses from 2017-2021 and this year they just can't find the space to devote to it.
Corrupt republicans doesn't pull eyeballs, corrupt dems does. Not much more to it than that imo.

Looks like SCOTUS is completely in Trump's pocket (no surprises here), allowing a stay of the decision blocking removal of TPS for half a million people.

Instead of using administrative stays to minimize harm, SCOTUS is happy to use them to maximize harm instead. Just gross.

Add another one to the "no one cares about security" pile. People should be demanding proof that they are receiving legitimate orders and direction.

I thought that's why the government already had existing lines of secure communications? Maybe we should actually enforce rules against conducting any official business on these devices. I distinctly remember Obama having to turn in his Blackberry and not getting it back until he left office.

I bet people that are not politically connected get really pissed off that political appointees can just break rules willynilly while Joe Blow fails to get a clearance if they had a joint ten years ago.

Major Bingo. Just follow the Fn rules on government phones and this would not be near the issue it is. I know MAGA thinks any rule that they didn't create is obviously a plot by the left, so keep on keeping on assholes.

If I had carried a post-it out of a scif, I'd be in Leavenworth until the sun swallows the earth. But these nimrods are texting bombing plans probably hanging out at starbucks.

Edit: I somehow missed that there was also some guy named Jake on the chat. Jake who? Jake Gyllenhall? Jake Paul? Jake from State Farm? Absolute lunacy.

In what was obviously a bid for attention or to incite an incident ICE raided one of the best known Italian restaurants in San Diego on a Friday night. In full tactical gear and using flash bangs on the crowd. The median home price in this neighborhood is about $1.5M.

This sort of shit esp if without cause should be illegal and get them arrested by the state police;

Having said that you really can ignore the $1.5M price tag on homes; a $2 million dollar house in much of northern californai (san jose to sf) cost around $150K to $200k in the many areas of south carolina and alabama. The price of homes in california is unreal.

The proposed budget has a pretty good start on decimating our federally funded science.

Should impact scientific breakthroughs for decades, send a good portion of our scientists & some engineers overseas, and drastically reduce enrollment in STEM fields.
I've pondered this shit for a while and given the mag7 backing of the Trump regime do have to wonder if they have gaslighted themselves into this undeniable future where robots and AI does everything. Its the only thing that makes sense on a larger scale, they dont think they're going to be held accountable cause a major paradigm shift is right around the corner.
Also. Greenland.
