There seems to be no amount of arbitrarily punitive behavior that CBP won't encourage from its officers. Wasn't great before but it's real bad now.

Foreign visitors should consider the increasing possibility that they will be randomly detained and sent home for no reason other because whatever goon they run into at the airport feels like it.
 
Another weird thing in the new tax code the house passed; is while they want to give the wealthy a record tax break and new loop holes to abused with the no tax on tip; they flip the coin and want to tax non profit foundations 10% as well as universities endowment up to 27%.

Go figure... assholes like Trump and Musk can't pay their fair share of taxes while they attack charities.

Unfortunately it seems like the agents were there to go after his non-citizen brother and he got in the way. He's actually lucky they didn't change him with obstruction or harboring an illegal alien or whatever it is these days.

Have you met a single recent academy grad in your entire life? I have met many.

1) junior officers and junior enlisted tend to be more liberal.
2) college graduates, even academy grads, are more liberal.
3) as far as indoctrination goes these guys were educated nearly entirely while Biden was president. If anyone was indoctrinating them it was liberals!

You should really seek therapy of some sort. You are not mentally well.

Not defending him but I think all of us need some therapy from the constant lying, bullshit, gaslighting that is the Trump administration.

That was 1 of Biden's mistakes.. he wanted "return to normal" and just referred to Trump as the "other/ previous guy".

Someone needs to realize the trauma the country has gone through!

I agree that Biden miscalculated and like Mitch McConnell thought Trump was finished.

This guy’s psychosis likely predates Trump though. Weird form of helplessness where he seems to enjoy whipping himself into a panicked frenzy.

A fascinating form of knowing he does not know, an inner sense of knowing based on lived experience, a feeling that the certainty of others does not comport with actual reality because you don't know yourself what the other claims to know. gothuevos thinks he knows what people with real knowledge don't know at all. What I find interesting is how to explain this feeling one knows what one can't really know. As a result of the habit of self questioning truth as I believe it to be I found my beliefs to be based on assumptions I didn't know I had but would not accept as true without proof which I was unable to do. What I learned from that is the pain that comes with the loss of certainty, the loss of ego pride in being right. I found that for me the need to believe in fantasy was based on the ego need to flatter myself. Once that door to my mind opened I chanced upon a teacher whose words could now reach me. He told me that the source of suffering that we will not allow ourselves to feel is because we were conditioned to hate ourselves. Now I know that truth not just by the pure logic it represents in terms of the likeliness of such an explanation, but by the sudden flood of emotions that can happen when suffering takes you back to childhood and the clarity provided by experiencing the source of real grief.

I love to read your posts. I see in them analytical brilliance, a keen mind coupled with extensive erudition, accompanied by a lack of inner fear to see what really is and I feel lucky to be able to be exposed to your political and other insights. Thank you.

There is a reason the US military requires officers be college educated. It isn't because you learn how to command troops at college.

The main reason is to maintain the US equivalent of an aristocracy leading the troops. I don’t think it applies much these days but that was the goal.

In the modern era it's to ensure the command structure has a varied world-view from the outset, as well as to ensure the human is actually capable of learning to the degree the military needs before investing too much into them.

I don’t agree - I feel it’s something carried over.

I think if we made a new military today the Officer and enlisted distinction would not exist
