It's hard to spend 5% indefinitely, but once the whole of Europe adopts a common weapons structure, not 10 types of tanks, 10 troop carriers etc and finally gets a unitary army core, then yes, it's gonna be self sufficient. No close enemy would ever be able to stand up to that, unless USA turns Command and Conquer

While Europe could use more commonality in big ticket systems that their munitions are increasingly interoperable across platforms, which has greatly improved, is probably more important.

I googled. Alaska is 1.7M SQ KM.

Yes, which makes Greenland 1/4 the size of the contiguous US.

The contiguous United States occupies an area of 3,119,884.69 square miles (8,080,464.3 km2). Of this area, 2,959,064.44 square miles (7,663,941.7 km2) is actual land, composing 83.65 percent of the country's total land area, and is comparable in size to the area of Australia.

Yeah no shit for the numbers. What are you basing the superimposition being incorrect on besides your feels? My feels say the image is perfectly fine.
Conus is about 7M SQ KM. You don't think the 2M from Greenland look too big? Of course I am only eyeballing.

My point is it looks more like 1/3 than 1/4. Like I said, looks, so yeah, feels.
Feels are all good but the image is verifiable and is accurate

Will stop derailing, it’s stupid that this is even a discussion. I blame the orange tariff tard.

The biggest political threat to Trump and the Rs is that between his trade wars, deportation efforts, and the housing sector down cycling basically everything in America is about to get more expensive.

We’re Headed Toward a Landlord-Friendly Era. Expect Higher Rent Prices.

The era of falling apartment rents looks to be nearly over.
A spike in rents during the early years of the pandemic sparked a historic apartment construction boom in 2023 and 2024. That crush of new inventory, especially in hot Sunbelt markets like Austin and Phoenix, led to oversupply and caused rents to fall in much of the country.
But more people now are renting longer, as mortgage rates stay highand the costs of homeownership remain unaffordable for many Americans. Landlords say that the new construction pipeline should be mostly drained by year-end, setting the stage for rents to rise nationwide later this year.
“The relationship is going to very quickly flip from a renter-friendly environment to a landlord-friendly environment,” said Lee Everett, the head of research and strategy at multifamily giant Cortland.

And then there is the physical threat of restricting access to psychiatric medications and firing lots and lots of federal workers (and the knock-on effects), including gutting of state security services...

"Yes" to which bit? That they have a cunning plan that I'm not seeing, or that they are motivated by pure faith-based libertarianism (and are out of their minds, Liz Truss style)?

Actually, now I come to think of it, the similiarties to Truss's "leap of faith" unfunded tax-cuts, makes me wonder what the underlying socio-economic factors are, that seem to have caused the plutocrat right everywhere, after being pretty much in power for decades, to lose all patience with even pretending to be rational, and to start blindly leaping into the abyss.

Facebook is amazing for how it shows so many relatively normal people fall into batshit insanity during COVID. On thousands of profiles you can look at anything pre-spring 2020 and they are relatively normal., And then rapidly, from summer 2020 to summer 2021 they dive right into full scale batshit.

The power of propaganda used during the 2020 campaign.
They generate batshit and people adopt it as their personal religion.

A game we also need to play.
