If we had a functional legislature, a lot of things would be happening. Unfortunately, the consolidation of power in Congressional leadership has led to feckless Mike Johnson and Thune at the wheel, people completely beholden to their liege lord.

I'm surprised by your reaction. Once they accepted him as their leader, they gave up any pretence of having virtuous principles. Why therefore would I expect them to react any differently.

- edit - what I wrote feels like hyperbole even though it isn't: Any argument that Donald holds any moral position dear can be demolished in honest debate in 5 minutes flat. However, I guess it feels like hyperbole is because I also have trouble believing just how morally bankrupt American politics currently is.

Based on either bot or idiot comments elsewhere, I suspect the minority percentage are bitter about Obama approving and spending millions of dollars upgrading White House infrastructure and think Trump needs his turn (despite the facts the a. they were congressionally approved funding in 2008 after a report from Bush admin, and b. Obama wasn't the president in 2008).

I doubt they even remember that unless told by one of the propaganda networks.

Overall I'm pretty sympathetic to the idea the WH complex needs work. There is nothing to suggest the East Wing was a particular problem however that justified its demolition for what is sure to be the tackiest dictator chic wedding hall mankind has ever seen.

I could be mistaken but i think the whitehouse was excluded from the law that requires approval. Surprise me a bit but saw it mentioned in some news article. There were 2 or 3 other structures excluded. Having said that Trump is a lying asshole.
