How's it going for Rs on high salience issues? Not so good really.

Meanwhile Trump is bailing out Argentina, keeping the government shut down, and almost exclusively focused on accepting foreign brib...errr....fostering peace in places that are not America. Swing voters wanted 2019 again not 2020 with an even more absentee President which is what they are getting.

I would feel better about this if the GQP weren't on track to gain something like ~19 seats in the house through their new gerrymandering efforts in various states.

If things continue to go sufficiently sideways over the next year in the eyes of voters, which seems at least possible, some of those gerrymanders are liable to explode in their faces.

-Ive wondered that myself.

The Gerrymander likely happens in concert with election machine fuckery and deploying ICE agents at traditionally Dem leaning voting district polling places to make sure the vote goes their way.

Deck is going to be so stacked that unless traditional R voters somehow break ranks to Dems at a +10% rate or something we're looking at locked in R rule.

This would be awesome, but ...

I think this is the more likely outcome.

I've considered the possibility that the TX gerrymander could backfire, but I think the increased ICE attention on anyone that even looks like they've had a good tan would negate it. Coupled with increasing occupations in an ever expanding set of locations, the Dominion sale, legal shenanigans, and my natural pessimism, I just don't have a good feeling about free and fair elections going forward.

The Dominion sale was huge and barely got any press. Like none.

Trying to racially profile every last latino person in the country could possibly have some unpleasant electoral side effects for Republicans, at least temporarily.

It could if they feel safe enough to expose themselves by heading to polling locations. We've already seen that their status doesn't matter to the "ice" nazis, and I don't think the gestapo sweeps will slow down in the next ~13 months.

The manpower doesn't exist to do this unless the military is called out to directly interfere with the election process in certain states/precincts. At which point having an election is probably way besides the fact that we'd likely descend into civil conflict.

You're right, it doesn't exist in reality. But all it would take is rumors/reports of agents being present and demanding papers and I'm sure that would have more than enough impact.

I remember it like it was yesterday when antisemitism was a serious issue that the government used as a veneer to attack universities.
Yeah, I would totally agree with JD Vance here—don’t let what stupid kids say in a group chat distract you from the things the real fascists in power are doing. Like revoking visas for saying mean things about Charlie Kirk, or snatching kids who write op-eds critical of Israel off the street…

Double standard much?

It should be noted that these people aren't 'kids'. They are adults, some of them nearly as old as JD Vance is and at least one of them is a state legislative official!
