They have a 5 year warranty. I hear it is as simle as calling M$ and giving them the serial number. The wires on the originals were defective. You should get a 2nd generation one for free.

Hmm, what -is- the number? If anybody has it handy I think I'll recommend to my dad that he call (or I'll call for him).

why'd you get a mouse from the 'evil empire'? logitech has good ones, if not better. i've got one of the optical wheel mouse, best one i've used.

Logitech took too long stealing M$'s technology. By the time I needed to get a mouse, the optical Logitechs were still months away from being available.

Actually, I had no idea who they got the optical tech from, but microsoft released theirs first and I was in a hurry to get one....it's a shame, those blue logitech ones look Swwweeeeet...if only I had another $50 to blow.

the non-ifeel optical mouseman is only 39 bucks :)
and the cheaper optical is only 29.
that's like full retail price, so you can do better still :)

my intellimouse just died (doh!). Do I just say that it died and ask for a replacement?

Call their number (800-360-7561) and tell them the problem (i.e. the pointer frequently freezes, or the mouse no longer works, or the LED no longer turns on, etc)...if you sound like you're a newbie, it's probably better than sounding as though you heard that you can get a free mouse replacement if you call (doesn't sound like you're doing it just to get a free mouse). The call lasts less than 5 minutes, most of which is spent giving them your shipping info.

I've heard it takes less than 3 days to get the replacement, but I just put in for one a few days ago and they said they're backordered for about 2 weeks :(
