what's the diff between the free and the purchased one?

The only difference I know is that you get Official Tech support and no inbrowser adds with the purchased version.

I like no adds.

there are NO adds in my version and its teh free onew

The ads will come. See above post

to open a link to new tab.

Use mouse gesture:

Right-click/hold-down on link, drag down for bit, let go.

New tab.

Not sure about bookmarks, but what I usually do is:

Mouse gesture:

Right-click/hold-down (not on a link... just in dead space), drag down for a bit, let go (this opens a new, blank tab.)

Then go to bookmarks and hit the link I want.

I loved Opera ever since pre 6.0 days but it was a bit buggy in rendering some pages so I used it in conjunction with IE.

Now with 7.0 most of the rendering problems are not evident.

and .... nothing beats mouse gestures!

Shift + left click will also open in a new tab if you don't like the right mouse button.

Ctl + tab will cycle through tabs.

Yay for opera.

ok now that i have figured out how to make it do what i want it to it is now my default browser. YEAH opera

and come to think of it. i might actuially pay for this

So how long do you think it'll be before IE has mouse gestures? 😛😀
I'm sure Opera has those patented.

(if they don't they really should have)

Oh, and something else that rules.

My computer crashed, and I rebooted. When I started up Opera again, it asked if I wanted to start from my "last time." or whatever. This opened up everything exactly like it was at the crash, and I had like 5 tabs open 🙂

gestures are kewl, they've been around since opera 6: i hate having to use right click menus when i don't have to. ie totally gets owned there🙂

First time I've switched browsers since switching from Netscape 3 to IE 4.

It won't let me view the Anandtech Today page though, it logs me out. That's a pain.

Plus its using a honking 110mb of RAM!

Something is horribly wrong... Mine is using 30mb of RAM, and I can view the Today page fine😕

Props to whoever designed this browser, very intuitive. Now if I could just find a 3rd party email client that can import folder from OE I'll be good. 🙂

Hehe, Opera since version 5 🙂
Gestures are great and "start whith last session" too. I had problems with some sides (some plugins I guess) which is why I still use IE sometimes.
I should note that Opera7.0 has a security issue with enabled javascript - switch it off or dl 7.01

Oh my,

Just downloaded Opera 7 and I LOVE IT ALREADY... How did I ever manage to survive without it? :Q

😀

the only thing i don't like so far is the order in which the tabs close. like when i open up a lot of tabs, and close them in order, phoenix browser (mozilla) closes them in the order that the tabs are arranged. but opera closes them in the order of the last page you viewed. that's kind of annoying because let's say i have a main page like "off topic" and open up a few interesting threads, and i want to close them and have the last open page to be the main forum... well in opera i'd have to click each tab before closing it. i dunno if that makes sense to you guys but it's a slight issue with me. otherwise i love this thing and made it my default browser!
