Just switched from IE6 to Mozilla to Opera 7.01 in one day!! Opera 7.01 looks very promising. So promising I might even buy it!

Just another browser to code for when making web applications. I have Opera on my work machine so I can test web applications. It's pretty good, but I really wish they all rendered code the same way. Regardless of who it is, someone isn't following stanards.

Microsoft.

Mozilla follows the standards almost precisely, and Opera follows them pretty closely as well.
Ironically, the browser that is probably the least compliant with the standards in IE6 is also the most compatible browser. Though given that IE is pretty much the defacto norm on the market it should too surprising that compatibility is excellent as basically everyone will ensure compatibility with IE.

I would have to agree with you NokiaDude! I downloaded Opera 7.01 the other day to give it a try, and so far I like it. I've never really used much other than IE and netscape a long time ago. Tried mozilla for a while, but I didn't like it.

I noticed today that you can skin Opera, and I checked out a few skins. :)

I've been using opera for long time, Im on opera 7.01 right now. I find it to work perfect with all the sites I use, It will do anything IE will do with the right plugins, And 95% of sites that people have problems with isnt opera's fault, its the crappy html code or the person doesnt know how to use opera.

Let's spread the love!!! :)

I have been hooked on Opera ever since I tried the 6.0 beta. A browser that fits in a 3 MB install package (mail client included) nowadays should command great respect among computer-literate folks. The programmers behind it fixed the five recently announced security holes in 24 hours. I guess it is paying off to have clean, compact, well-written, hand-optimized code. IE on the other hand is such a mess of bloatware that some security issues anounced months ago are still not resolved, possibly because MS programmers are having a hard time tracking them down flaws in their own code.

For those that did not know, Opera's download manager can resume interrupted (stopped) downloads, although I don't know if this is true only for downloads that you stop manually or also downloads that were broken due to losing a connection or an OS lock-up etc. I think that's a pretty neat feature, though I realize there are download apps out there that are more sophisticated.

And whats really cool about 7.01 is that the some of the button links on Anandtech light up when you place the pointer over the link!!! Neato!! I tried Mozilla but it kept crashing on me in Win XP Pro. Opera has been like a rock!

Well, Opera 7.01 fixed the problem I had with csnation, too bad I can no longer click to expand the text -- its always expanded now. My favorite feature of Opera is the ability to better control how many connections to the website. Once you can up the connections, some pages just load very fast.

If you're new to Opera, make sure you take a look at the mouse gestures..I love them. If someone makes a program that lets me use them in Windows, I'll be very happy. ;)

Unfortunately, I get an "M2 Error" when launching Opera - it says MailRootDir is empty -- Engine Init() Failed. Any ideas? If I hit OK (the only option), it launches/works fine...but no mail.

Yes I am now using Opera after reading all the rave reviews about it and the mouse gesture, they are awesome!

Edit:
What differences are there between the free & pay for versions?

The diferrence between free and pay versions I think is with registration (payed version) you get support and something else.

I'M USING OPERA RIGHT NOW!!!

I like it b/c it can save all your window states in case you have to close opera and come back later. You can pick up right where you left off.

I guess the browser w/ Java has the banner ads? I use the one without Java, and I have no ads.

Select "Block all pop-ups" and absolutley NO POP-UPS!!!! AWESOME :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You have no ads for the first 14 days after you install it. After that the ads appear and you have to buy it to get rid of them.

What are you talking about? IE6's simplicity?? Yeah riiiiight. Opera 7.01 can be as complex or as simple as YOU want it to be.

Which DLLs? How the fvck does Opera expect to make inroads when you have to be an IT pro to use the simplest multimedia features?!?!?
