New tab, unless it's a window on a new subject.

i don't get it. so if you're looking at a website about cars, you can open a new tab if it is about cars but you need a new browser if you switch to a site on airplanes?

If I'm neffing, and decide for some reason or other I want to research the history of the unicycle, I'll open a new window and constrain my unicycle related research to that window. If that leads me to boning up on famous circus performers and where they are now and how I can obtain post-prime-career footage, I'll do that in yet another window.

I've gotten used to tabs but new windows work exactly the same. As a matter of fact, alt-tab to the other windows is easier than ctrl-tab to the other tabs.

I do love Opera as a browser though so I've learned to work with tabs. Mouse gestures are the best invention to web browsing ever.

BTW, what's the hotkey to tile and untile the tabs in Opera?

Shift + F6 = Tile
Manually maximize each tab = Un-Tile (there is no hotkey afaik)

You can also add the "Tile" button to your toolbar (Right-click > Customize).

Tab, but they need to make Ctrl + Tab work how Alt + Tab does for the browser.

What browser doesn't do that? It works in Firefox and Opera (though I use "right-click + mouse wheel" in Opera).

Also more convenient if I want to save some results, I'll just bookmark all the tabs in a specific window.

I would love to see a screenshot of that. How do you get ~8 windows visible at the same time without them all being unusable? Do you have an awesome multi-monitor setup?

And how long does it take to click-drag-resize each window so that they are all visible?

Two monitors both at work and at home. Generally, I click-drag/resize AT window only, and everything else seems to work out to be the right size. I typically do not have a need for more than 5 windows open though. 8 would require more monitors. ;p

With that said, I do make use of tabs for certain occasions, especially when clicking on links within AT to videos, pictures, etc. But for reading multiple articles where I am doing a lot of cross examinations, I need multiple windows.

ONLY window...tabbed seems...retarted. It amounts to the same thing...why not just open a new window?

I will go to a forum and open each topic I want in a tab. If I jump to a totally different matter or if there is something I want to guarantee a browser crash doesn't close I use another window too.

What is retarded is having multiple copies of common UI elements when the only thing changing is the content of your pages.
