Holy cow. I have no need for it immediately but I intend to build a rig later this year and I feel that RAM prices are at historic lows and will only go up from here. Do you guys concur? I'm seriously considering buying 16 GB now. I suppose I shouldn't need to worry about compatibility with boards as long as I build this year, right?

At roughly $5 a gig....i'd say it's at a low point or veeeery close. While it may get a few dollars cheaper, it could also double in price.

That's what I am thinking. Assuming I go Sandy Bridge or one of the socket 2011 products later this year, do you guys think the Corsair I linked would be an OK choice? The deal is just too good to pass up and I figure I should stock up while the sale is on. :D

I don't see why not. In a year we'll still be on DDR3 AFAIK. Maybe some 1600 speed if your the tweaking type.

I notice the voltage is 1.5-1.65...way to narrow it down Corsair. IMO, I want my 1333 to be 1.5v. If it needs more to go 1333 at 9-9-9-24, I have to wonder why...

Yeah, I kind of have to agree with jjmIII...It might dip some more but man how much lower can it go? And if it goes lower you can just do what I did with DDR2 and keep buying it even when you have no use for it LOL.

Good point. I overclock and I tend to buy the higher speed RAM so that I won't have to overclock the RAM. Maybe I'll see if I can find a good deal on faster RAM.

Yeah, that actually paused me on the deal...but I'm thinking of biting anyway. I just bought 8GB of that cheap super talent though. Like IndyColtsFan I'm thinking of going SandyBridge maybe, but probably not for another few months.

I checked out and received an OOS email from Newegg! :(

I had to hesitate for about 1 to 2 minutes as I'm at work and had to do something....that's all it takes to miss a hot deal! :(:(:(

Edit: Just came in stock again and jumped this time (forgot the 1.5% Fatwallet fatcash though...damnit).

Edit #2: Well, received another OOS e-mail on this one...It's dead Jim /Bones McCoy

How are PNY rebates? That seems to be the next best deal with rebates, otherwise its 66 for 8gig kit w/o.

It is back in stock again. I just can't decide. This RAM is so freaking cheap and is half the cost of DDR3 1600 RAM. I think I'll buy 8 GB for sure for my HTPC.

Got it this morning. I'm hoping it will run 7-7-7 at 1333MHz with low volts just like all the other 9-9-9 1333 kits I've had.
