But we are all complicit. Generation X... it's how I grew up. I own seasons 1 and 2 of the Ali G show, and it doesn't get much more cynical than that. And we easily succumb to being oh-so sophisticated, wink wink, and believe our sarcastic cynicism passes for wisdom.

Starting a long time ago and snowballing ever since, we have created a culture that is jaded, sneering, and leering. Yes and the reason is that we hate ourselves because we have all been put down. It is a pity you imagine you are grounded in some sort of earthy reality that rejects psychological insight, but you have also had it drummed into you that you must never trust yourself.
