i am at the point to agree with this

OMG!!!! :Q

i agreed with Moonbeam!!!! eeeek!!!

hell must have just froze over 😉

I vote, and am highly informed of the candidates. I walked in and knew exactly who I wanted to vote for and why.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

from bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependency;
from dependency back again to bondage.

I'd vote if there was someone that I wanted to vote for. Some fat lazy 50+ year old man doesn't represent many of my views, so there's no point.

I am going out to vote for the first time in a few minutes (I have worked at polling locations in the past though). THe nice thing is they give you a nice packet with all the canadates staements. Between that and their websites I have everyone I am voting for listed.

You're very much wanted on the "equal rights" side of the isle!
Your opinions and attitude towards any issue are so rigid that I don't even have to read your opinion on anything regarding politics to know how you feel. It's like you have a roadblock just on the inside of both ears and if its anything that has to do with spending money it's not allowed in for further consideration and labeled as Liberal(even if it isn't). I bet you are a living descendant of Uriah Heap!
I love it, I'm RIGID! That's why we had to drag the Dems kicking and screaming to our side for welfare reform! And who are they that won't budge an inch on fixing the damn Social Security System? Once these mofo programs are put in place, we can't get rid of the damn things no matter how far they run awry! ANd who is it that helps start these programs in the first place? Yep, "uninformed voters" who can't get enough entitlements.

Honestly, the Democrat politicians must be utter morons if they can't win with a platform that promises you everything under the sun, and only "the rich" will be asked to pay for it! 😕

All this talk in here doesnt want to make me vote anymore.... great.

But then the CA Governer seat is up for grabs, minus well vote for that and thats it. Everything else in the sample ballot I have is a damn blank to me.

brtspears2, you can get great info on the issues at the California League of Women's Voters. It has a broad spectrum of analysis and opinion. It has a short and long version of analysis on the propositions. The Governor's race is an easy call. I'm voting for Mickey Mouse.

Not a good campaign strategy, Ornery. Those are the same morons that each thinks he or she is going to be one of those rich people one day.

That's a good thing. When a huge portion of the adult population doesn't know jack sh*t either imagine the average 18-24 year old trying to direct the country?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm only 20 but I'm very happy that a lot of the wackos around me don't vote, makes my vote worth more.

EDIT:
There seriously is no point in voting in Indiana....
Yeah, you leftist, anti-corporate, pro-government handout types must absolutely love the independance and personal responsibility in the Midwest since people with those characteristics are rarely part of your support base. 😛

And on the other hand the Republicans support Legislation the will enrich the Lobbiests Clients at the expense of their Constituency (Dems do it too). To Blindly support the Republicans because they aren't Democrats is like a Blind Man walking into a fish market and complimenting women on the perfume they are wearing. You have to look closely at the Individual running for the office no matter what party he is affiliated to be able to vote intelligently. The difference between the Republicans and the Democrats isn't that great in many cases. That's why there are so many negative ad campaigns. When Politicians can't talk about their good points or what they will do better they resort to knocking their opponents, a lot of times pronouncing false accusations and bold face lies (again both parties do it).

I wish I could vote. Damn my parents for not conceiving me 4.5 months sooner. 🙁 😉

Oh well, I'll vote in 2 years.

" Those are the same morons that each thinks he or she is going to be one of those rich people one day."

They really don't. They're certain that they're excluded from the "club". They just know that these guys had everything given to them. End of story.

Reminds me of the SNL skit where Eddy Murphy masqueraded as a white guy. Everywhere he went, white merchants gave him stuff. A white banker just gave him a barrel of money! He had discovered their secret! :Q

"The difference between the Republicans and the Democrats isn't that great in many cases."

I know one huge issue that there's no difference, and that's SPENDING MONEY! They may spend it on different things, but it's spent just the same. THAT, is a pisser. :|

funny how all these republican presidents don't get rid of welfare/social security and all that wonderful "redistribution of wealth". so if they don't put the money where their mouth is.. what are you left with? a party of religious nutbags🙂

then your not giving credit where it is due. they know they are almost certain not to attain wealth as our country is one where 20% owns 80%+ of the wealth. its very um clear headed of these people to realize such things.

Everything in nature seems cyclical doesn't it? The birth and death of a star...the birth and death of a civilization. Perhaps the best we can do is acknowledge the luck of living in the "complacency to apathy" stage and do everything in our power to hold off the next stage as long as we can.

Anyone have any ideas how to break the cycle? The first civilization that does ought to make every effort to edjumicate the rest of us.
