wait, why is it suddenly a bug, instead of something that reflects proper convention?

I mean, if forcing one space is truly problematic for posting certain data and information (as some have suggested), then I get that.

but I wonder if some of you think it's a "bug" simply because you incorrectly think that 2 spaces is proper?

:hmm:

for example: CPA learned only in this thread that VB is forcing single space, yet claims that he can't read sentences that are single-spaced. it seems to affect his ability to read and comprehend information so drastically that he flies into raging shit storms of furious anger.

yet, as long as he has been posting on these Vb forums and reading other posts, he has been reading all sentences single spaced, as has everyone else. One may be typing sentences as 2 spaced, but what you only ever see is single space.

So, I ask you rabid 2 spacers--has reading the single spacing in VB for the past 3 years thoroughly confused you? Are you able to comprehend anything that anyone has posted? I bet nearly all of you didn't even realize how easily you were flowing through single-spaced sentences.

Interesting Placebo that you have fallen victim to, single-spacers.

to be fair zin, I hadn't noticed it until not too long ago and I've been with AT for some time. It is easier to notice on paper, which is the reason I personally am accustomed to it

Period. Space. Space.

Nope... looks proper to me.
though, looks like the forum software needs bugs fixed too.

I will use two till the day I die. I will never be convinced to only use one. I also find it odd that it bothers so many people.

Two is the answer, as was taught to me in my 8th grade typing class. Total force of habit now, so it would take serious concentration to use only one.

How many of you young punks have even used a typewriter? I still have a manual typewriter, a Royal I believe - have not used it in many years however.

It depends, is the only correct answer. Everyone who said 1 or 2 under any circumstances is wrong, period.

Edit:

While we're on it, I think micro-justification looks like shit, and is harder to read. I prefer ragged right margin, torn page edges, and two spaces after each sentence. And when you look at NICE first edition hardcover books, that is how they are printed.

I used to be a firm supporter of two, but I've recently switched to one, simply because there's no reason for two. The reason behind two spaces has already been stated in this thread multiple times. On a computer, one space is fine. For some reason, I was always taught two (perhaps by elderly English teachers?) But it's definitely wrong. And, an extremely hard habit to break.

But it's good that you're eliminating candidates based on something as trivial as spaces after a period -- which you are 100% in the wrong about.

Try misspelling a word. I'll burn your resume.

lmao. BTW, I never claimed I couldn't read sentences that are single-spaced. I only stated people were lazy.

Two spaces. I couldn't care less what people think is 'proper'. I've never seen a business-level email use one space after a period. It would make the writer look like an idiot.

when i learned keyboarding in HS like 10 years ago, I was taught 2 spaces. I don't see a point to use 2 spaces long time ago. 1 space is the norm.

Typing rules, which is where I learned this, say one space after a comma or semi-colon, two spaces after a period or colon.

This probably goes back to type spacing on printing presses. It gives a greater space between completed sentences, and gives the eyes an easier reference, so the sentences don't appear to run on.

Two. Was taught that well before most of you had your best parts left on the sheets.
