stealing from an organization that benefits young girls? that's horrid!

you would be amazed how often it happens.

my daughers group is thinking of not takeing checks anymore. they get a lot of bad checks.
Dude, that really sucks, man.
Maybe they should ask the person wanting to write a check if they will let them take their picture and car license number, as a precaution. Then you have something to PROSECUTE them with. At least a little humiliation.

The real crime is charging $6.50 for a box of cookies!!!!

(those cookies really have gotten to be over-priced)

I think they're $3.25 per box. $6.50 is for two boxes.

(oh.)

I think the prices are set by the troop depending on location and funds needed.

we turned it in. but not much you can do.

the bank waived all charges though so thats good and a local business always ponies up the cash to cover the lost cookie sales.

but still not good. granted the box of cookies is overpriced its still no reason to steal them.

err. almost, they are set by the regional councils so it it not by troop:
Exact cost details vary from Girl Scout council to council, as each council negotiates with the baker and sets their own prices. A 2006 article in the Boston Globe, noted that "cost is hardly ever a factor, until buyers find out that the same box of cookies is selling for less in the next town over:" $3.50 in Rockland and $4.00 in neighboring Norwell, reflecting different decisions by the Girl Scout Council of Southeastern Massachusetts and the Girl Scouts Patriots' Trail Council, respectively.

Public shaming, FTW. Name & photo in local paper and on flyers, perhaps the local CofC might even spring for a billboard!

Ooohh.. in that case keep it up! There's more girl scouts selling over by the walmart. ;)

stripper. definitely stripper. or maybe porn star.
seriously... "i know it's a crime but it was an easy crime. the money was just there so we took it."
yeah stripper or porn star, but hey at least there's an outlet for a dimwit like her to earn some somewhat honest cash.

While I don't know her, she is a neighbor of ours (couple houses away). Her parents are friendly and nice, I feel bad (for them) that their daughter has no common sense. BTW, this happened on Sunday, and supposedly she turned 18 shortly after the original crime. Don't think this happened on her actual Bday.

i agree they are very addictive! they have to put something in them. its rather amazing how much people spend on them. Each box is $3.50 and the avarage person buys 4 boxes! one guy got 10 boxes.

WTF! thats insane.

The 18-year-old accused of being the getaway driver in the Girl Scout cookie theft was arrested for the third time in a month.

Stefanie Woods was booked into Palm Beach County Jail late Thursday, charged with larceny. Details of the crime were not immediately available. She was later released on her own recognizance.

Just two days earlier, on Tuesday, Woods was charged with fraud for allegedly skipping out on a $25.84 tab at the Denny's at 4541 Hypoluxo Road west of Lantana around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Woods and her 17-year-old friend are accused of snatching $164 from a 9-year-old Girl Scout selling cookies at the Winn-Dixie near Hypoluxo and Jog roads Jan. 30. The 17-year-old girl was also charged as a juvenile in the Denny's incident.

The Girl Scout case made national headlines after Woods appeared on television news, seemingly unapologetic and reveling in the attention.

At the time, her attorney said his client was hounded by reporters and portrayed unfairly in the media. Woods is a misguided youth who was not even attending Park Vista High School, where she is a senior, he said.

Woods' juvenile record includes arrests on a burglary charge in 2006, followed by a charge of battery on an ex-boyfriend in April and a contempt-of-court charge in July, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
