I ordered GT4 for less than that!!
Am certain you meant to include "thank you" in that post somewhere. I'll respond with "you're welcome" as if you had done so.

And with that, I shall say goodnight.

Right, I should say thank you for you trying to convert me to the devil's browser . . .

I'm uninstalling Opera right now. . .

WELL LOOKEE HERE!!

Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1 = 15.56MB

Opera = 29.07MB

hmmmm . . . .

isn't that considered an extension?
It's in the help file. As in, the file included with the installation executable, and accessed by selecting "Help" from within the application.

(Am beginning to see part of the problem is PEBKAC)

who said im in between the keyboard and chair? ;)

one of the best things about a 20" monitor and wireless mouse/kb is that you can post from your bed :D

And OP, do you use all the features in Opera? I would think not . . .

It is too bloated . . . I like Firefox in the sense that they give you a simple template and you add what you want.

I hate Firefox for that reason- I can't be bothered installing god-knows how many extentions just to make it work the way I want it to.

Opera's really not bloated.

Also, it is cross platform, so I can use it on the Macs at school

Erm, so's Opera,

nope

Don't be confused. It isn't bloated as far as the interface or the resources it uses.

On my comp, Firefox doesn't use that many resources, I've never seen it go above 80MB and have 1024, i dont care about 80MB

opera is stabler for me. firefox crashes occasionally and the session saver type plugins suck.

I tried out Opera 8 beta, and it really is fast, just like every other time I've used it. It's a great browser (#2 in my book). My only problem with it is the adbar, and no extension support. I still can't get it to do what I want in terms of tab-browsing, though. Other than those two, it has much better skinning support, quicker (especially back and forward), full page zoom, only show cache images (type 'g') and it has custom keyboard/mousegesture configs which you can quickly install (like a Firefox configuration).

Why do so many people have to constantly advertise what browser they use while also giving a crap what others use? I think many of you are in dire need of a good pnis extension.

The reason Opera has essentially no market is because it tries to be a commercial product in an industry full of free software.

IE: free
Firefox: free
Opera: not free

It's pretty simple to figure out why most people don't even look at opera.

It only costs if you want to get rid of the advertisement bar, but it is pretty small and I hardly ever notice it.

If it is needed to have a small advertisement banner to support a superior product, then I can deal with that.

I hate advertisements.

Well stop surfing the internet then, and stop posting on AT. Advertisments all over this website, 3x the size of the ad banner in Opera.

not with adblock :)

I use both FF and Opera. I think more Opera users may turn to FF once it matures more and has more functionality, especially since it's free.

I like FF because it comes with very little bloat and you can choose which features you want to install.

What can't fathom how anyone can say the Opera adbar isn't annoying, granted it's a lot better than a bunch of flash crap, but that doesn't mean it's good.

I've never really seen any reason to use Opera over Mozilla/Firefox/Konqueror though, they're all good browsers, but only one of them costs money, so the choice is pretty clear to me.
I guess if I had to chose between IE and Opera I'd buy Opera, but luckily I have other options.

Also, when it comes to portability, Opera sucks under Linux, looks like crap.
Oddly enough this was better with the older versions, I have 8.0 beta installed now, I think the last one I used under Linux was 6.x, and it looked a lot better.

Get rid of the adbar, then I will consider it. An inch of space on a monitor set at 1024x768 is too much.

And I'm not paying for a web browser.

Was not aware that attempting to help an individual learn about a subject he/she has little familiarity with or understanding of was considered "converting". Hopefully those that read the comments I provided see that I hold Firefox and Opera as nearly equal products, and that I have an appreciation for both.

Have to concur with the above comment for the most part (and appreciate some intelligence in a thread largely devoid of such). In my eyes, the biggest selling point behind the Mozilla offering is its open source nature (not the cost, as it is minimal difference), which should translate to the product bettering itself more quickly.

No...now it is a pic of the car. I removed the opera album.

Hover over the link ...you will see it was in a different album.

Opera has no bloat, that's been explained multiple times. The filesize is just as small as Firefox, if not smaller, and uses less memory at times. It's not a matter of choosing what things to install, it's a matter of not having to install anything else ever. It already has it all. You can choose to use or not use any of it, but it isn't bloat, it does not use any extra resources obviously.

I like Opera because I don't need to add anything. And I do in fact use or have used most of the features included. They are all quite useful while browsing the internet. I can't think of any feature that I haven't found a use for.
