IMHO

FF > IE > Opera
Have resisted commenting throughout most of this thread (especially since it's in the wrong forum), but making such an inane comment requires a reply.

Most of the features Firefox touts above other browsers were invented and/or pioneered by Opera. While I prefer Opera, I would equate Firefox equivalent in most functions, and would classify both far above Internet Explorer.

The reason I like IE better than Opera is because there are some pages that will ONLY work in IE and not in FF or Opera

And FireFox's interface is much better than Opera's, even when I played around with the settings in Opera for about 2 weeks . . .

Please do feel free to expand how the Firefox interface is "better" (both are fully customizable, as I recall).

And OP, do you use all the features in Opera? I would think not . . .

It is too bloated . . . I like Firefox in the sense that they give you a simple template and you add what you want.

Also, it is cross platform, so I can use it on the Macs at school

When you first install it, Firefox's interface is better in the sense that it is a simple design. Then you can go change themes, extensions, etc.

Opera is too bloated

It's quite all right that you are uninformed. Really. It doesn't bother me, personally.

Firefox v 1.0.1 for Windows, English (4.7MB)

As it bears of some importance, have been using Opera since v 4.x (circa 1999). Have been loading and testing Firefox since v 0.2 (back when it was called Phoenix, and later Firebird).

So yes, I have familiarity with both, and have for quite some time.

my first idea when i downloaded opera was to do a speed test, so i used DSL REPORTS

Opera : 4231/342

Firefox : 4662/359

Okay, now my view of Opera

First of all, this thing looks like an AOL Browser without the connection stuff and all

I dont know why you guys say that the ad banner is small, it is VERY distracting

How do I test out extensions? Like weather stuff, look at page in IE, etc?

edit: how do i do tabbed browsing, i keep doing Ctrl + T, maybe it's something else?

I hate Firefox for that reason- I can't be bothered installing god-knows how many extentions just to make it work the way I want it to.

Erm, so's Opera,

Tobbs space saver. I offered to get rid of your banner while testing. View->skins. Click on the panels on left to make them dissapear (on the edge).

Answer.

Answer. Personally, I have no problem whatosever paying for software I use on almost an hourly basis. If you find yourself not agreeing with that concept (which of course is complete one's own choosing), simply use the open source free alternative - but do forego the negative comments should you chose that route (you'll notice none of my posts are negative towards Firefox; in fact, in a great many ways, I put it nearly on par with Opera).

Answer.

Tabbed browsing was actually pioneered by Opera. Help should suffice for keyboard shortcuts and/or mouse gestures:

file://localhost/DriveLetter:/InstallationDirectory/Help/index.html

Am certain you meant to include "thank you" in that post somewhere. I'll respond with "you're welcome" as if you had done so.

And with that, I shall say goodnight.

It's in the help file. As in, the file included with the installation executable, and accessed by selecting "Help" from within the application.

(Am beginning to see part of the problem is PEBKAC)
