I know Prince is a talented guitarist, but (and I know I'm gonna sound snobby and probably get flamed) that particular solo was underwhelming for me. I haven't picked up a guitar in probably 3 months and I could likely bust a solo better than that.
{flame suit = on}
pics?My second guitar teacher was a euro death metal chick. I asked who her favorite guitar player was and she told me it was Prince. I was like WTF? Took a while for me to realize he was indeed a killer player.
I've played the guitar for many years and still do not understand why solos are so prevalent.
Do you not realy like guitar or something?
Technical ability isn't everything.IMHO:
- While he played it superbly, from a technical perspective he didn't do anything that was particularly difficult.
Technical ability isn't everything.
Solos just typically feel like the guitarist stroking his ego on stage.
Welcome to 1983. Prince is one of the most underrated lead guitarists in music. I think the electronic aspect of his catalog overshadowed his solid work on the six string.
Also, that's Dhani Harrison on 12 string back there. Looks like George. A lot.
Miss you, George.
Never said it was![]()
If that were true, it wouldn't be possible to explain Neil Young.![]()
lol, you calling out Yngwie? Fucking 'tard.
Music is about ego, that's why we like it.
Yngwie embodies everything that is wrong with guitar wankers. He's the figurehead of a long line of players who wouldn't know subtlety if it hit them on the head.
You can go and live hiding rock to rock and shadow to shadow...those that succeed don't do that.
I bet Gene Simmons makes you vomit literally.
You may want to look more into your argument. I don't think you are really a musician if you think otherwise.
I like KISS.
