2 kitties > 1 kitty. Gives them a playmate.
Unless they are over 125lbs, in which case they shouldn't be allowed to live.

I recommend 2. I have had one cat my whole life, and hes fine, but I just got a mother cat who had kittens, 3 of them, and together they are so much happier, and also, you'll notice they will never be bored! HIGHLY HIGHLY Recommend getting two little ones

A second kitty is always recommended.

Here are a few reasons why.

1) They keep eachother company ( a single cat, can get sad, lonely, depressed, just like a human).
2) They keep eachother active, chasing eachother playing, etc (helps with maintaining weight).
3) They can both share a litter box.

etc etc

Yeah but instead of 1 egotistical critter ploting to take over the house you'll have 2 skeeming to overthrow the human overloads.

Either way my moneys on kitty.

I can't help but chuckle at the thought of Red with two kittens.

Get two, but make sure they are both males or both females, I had two cats (one male, one female) and the male one used to beat the crap out of the female one everyday, until the male one got to fat to go after the female cat.

But definately get two, cats can get real lonely, especially if they are indoor-only.

I have had one, I've had two. I've had 4. :p Now only 3. :(

I would do two, they keep one another company, and they seem happier, they do. I've had cats for years. Do the two! :) Good luck!

I prefer 2 or more kitties. Then again I like variety. Sometimes a big black kitty is just what the doctor ordered. Other times you are it the mood for a smaller yellow or tan kitty. Sometimes a plain ole white hairless kitty is great too. I guess what I'm saying is that one is OK but having 2 kitties at the same time is AWESOME!

Naw, they'll be too suspicious of each other's designs to actually make a move. After all, no one wants to be the sub-overlord.

Hey Geekbabe

We have two brothers... they are darling orange tabbies... some days it is like we have two young Sumatran tigers in the house... but they are hilarious, loving, and adore each other. They are 6 months old now... yes, we have had to make some changes in the house, but it's worth it. :)

^^^^^^ Pay no attention to Officer BringDown, Jean.

Just remember my personl motto: The more pussy, the better! :p

Actually, just talked today with Zea, from whom I got Pye, my pale white pussy. Turns out I may get his all black brother, now named Moon.

Pye was named Star, but I didn't like that name alone. If I decide to take in Moon, too, and he works out, I'm already thinking of renaming him Die.

Pye or Die?

It'll be my sideways take on Eddie Izzard's "Cake or death?"

Or unless one happens to be a bit of a bully and gets thrills out of terrorizing the other one.

Sometimes they may also like to run around at 5am. But that might happen with a single cat.

Again, it depends on the cats. My cats generally keep away from each other, and we've had them both since they were kittens, and they're brother and sister, from the same litter. Scotty and Beverly are their names. If Scotty happens to look at Beverly when she's just walking by, and she notices, she hisses and gets defensive, and then just runs away. Sometimes he'll give chase and Beverly will make a horrible screaming noise, which I'm thinking she might do to try to get us to defend her. She's never in any real danger though. So anyway, they will usually spend plenty of time away from each other. When they do have to come together, like for supper (canned food, once a day, they get dry food any other time they like), then they traditionally will swat at each other for a little while, and then sit and wait to be fed.

Keep each other active? Scotty's a bit flabby, but not really overweight. Maybe a pound or two, but the vet didn't say he's overweight. He doesn't like moving unless there's food involved. Beverly is more active. She'll follow us around like a puppy. She's also scared easily - if UPS pulls up, or if there's thunder, or construction crews nearby, or a dog walking by on the road, she bolts for cover and hides under a bed.

Sounds familiar. :)

Two can be amusing to have around.
