I think two would be better, that way there will always be someone to play with when you are gone. Then the one cat won't get bored and start to claw on furniture and such....though both may do this together as a bonding activity so I don't know.:p

it's the size of a hampster. but appears clear eyed and it's eating,

It sounds really young. Is it pottying on its own or do you have to stimulate it?

Awesome, update with Pics when you get them. :) :) :)

lol,Í'm off from work on monday I'll try to get some pics then, let's just say this is the tinest kitten I've ever dealt with. He's so cute though, perfect little ears, alert eyes.
I was toting him around in a fleece sock and he looked like a toy in an Xmas stocking !

My kitten will be coming ed of next week, I'm going to call him Smoke :)

Definitely two. That way they'll never be lonely because they'll have a playmate. That's what I did and it's double the fun! (and double the poop of course :p )

That sucks...how old were these kitty's?

Still more than one cat is best. I have 3 now, I have had 4 in the past....my parents have had 2 and 3. There isn't much more work with the extra couple cats. Initial costs are definitely going to be more, but a lot of veternarians will offer a pretty nice discount if they all come in together as it's not much more work for the vet to give three matching sets of injections and treatments.

Having been the owner of 1 cat for the last 5 years, I would say go with 2 while they're still ktitens. Because then they can give each other attention. My cat is constantly begging for attention, and as soon as I give it to her she is satisifed then leaves. Then she comes back 5 minutes later. It gets very annoying. Especially when she wakes me up pawing at my face right after she's been in the litter box.

I had 3 cats when I was younger, and they stuck together. Two is my advice.

Isla's post

If I had a bad apple (ebaycj) and tried everything to make it work, I would have it put to sleep/turn it in to a shelter. Of course, because I know animals well I have always been able to pick good ones.... but I did try out a couple who I sent RIGHT BACK after a week or two because they had serious issues.

Some people may want to have nasty posters, but I am just not one of them.[/quote]

I couldn't help it.

Mod, I just want to say I appreciate you stepping in here. Whenever cats come up, several people always "joke" about doing nasty things to them :|

Sorry to hear that. We are going day-to-day on our 20+ year old Calli. I think the younger cat "Pocket Rocket" gives Calli a challenge and reason to live.

I'd go with 2.

We got 2 cats from the same litter. They've always been very playful with eachother and groom eachother occasionally.

Yeah it was the Runt of the litter and didn't look very healthy to begin with(the mother had rejected it). If it had survived it probably would have been sickly.

 Mod

Dude I have family in Illinois, if you'd like to go out for a drink when I am up there to discuss this let me know. AFAIAC, those that promote animal cruelity have no place in civilization.
