I like my LCDs. In fact, I gave away my tube TV for a new LCD during this past Christmas. LCD FTW.

Yeah, I don't know about LCD's. I keep getting the urge to buy something like a 19" WXGA. I've got a ViewSonic CRT at home (21") and at work (22"). The one at work is a fairly high-end professional flat CRT and I love the picture quality. I have a 17" LCD on my desk as well the picture is brighter it's not as pleasing to the eyes. As for connection type, i've never really noticed a difference between VGA/DVI... and that stands for both 17" and 19" LCD's.

Maybe i'll hold off a little longer. :)

Until they make LCDs that work effectively at more than one resolution (if it's even possible), I'm staying CRT. But then, I'm used to a 21" flatscreen aperature grille CRT that can do 120Hz at 1024x768 and 100Hz at 1280x960/1024. Great quality, excellent image stability, geometry, and colors.

However, I would still like to see one of these new fast-response LCDs sometime. I know that the ghosting on my laptop is awful - but it's a few years old now. Scrolling text just looks awful with all the streaking.

Yeah, main reason I switched to LCD. Much easier on the eyes. I miss my 21" Trinitron CRT :( Luckly my mom's 2.4ghz celery dell is taking good care of it, lol. Color was better on it, especially lights grays, but I can work longer on my LCDs without eye fatigue.

LOVE my LCD!
So much easier on the eyes and the colors are way beautiful.
No flickering either.
I only regret not having a 24" that would run @ 1920xXXXX

If youve got the room, nothin beats a CRT. Ive got a bigass 22" Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2070SB. Maybe in another year you'll have LCD's that can come close performance-wise... but nowhere near price-wise.

Unless youre in a dorm or a tiny apartment, i dont get everyones love for LCDs.

If they could, my eyes would have breathed a sigh of relief when I moved to LCD. LCDs are so much easier on my eyes, and to tell the truth, I think the quality is a lot better.

That's part of the problem, I think. LCDs look best with DVI connections. DSub connections (standard VGA) can be fuzzy.

I would never own another CRT monitor. I have a Dell 2405FPW and I LOVE it. With an LCD there are no more headaches from low refresh rates. When I used a CRT, anything below 100Hz refresh was a guaranteed instant headache for me. However, I've seen people use a 60Hz refresh all day and it not even bother them.

I was in an office one day and the receptionist was obviously using a very low refresh because (at least to me), the screen was flickering very badly. I said "how do you stand that monitor flickering like that?" She said back "what do you mean? It looks fine to me".

The bottom line is that I would never go back to a CRT. Even though I paid 900+ dollars for this puppy, I feel like it was worth it.

High-end Trinitrons do not look fuzzy or DIM. Cheap CRT's are often DIM and Fuzzy. I have a professional Sony and used a cheap Shamrock CRT plugged in to the second port on my video card and I know what you are talking about. Side by side, an LCD does look better than the shamrock but not the Expensive sony.

I just bought me an LCD Hyundai B90A and I really like it alot. I wont go back to a CRT. I had a 17in Sony CRT...The picture quality on this LCD is alot better than that CRT ever was. I can see things now with the LCD that I couldnt with the CRT.

Perhaps if you got an actual good LCD, you wouldn't bother to say that...let me guess 25ms response time along with a not very good brand doesn't usually produce the best results...

I'm with you on that. All day long I have to look at crappy dell lcd's with the washed out colors and grainy picture. I can't wait to get home to my 22" diamondtron.
Some things bug me about my crt. It's so huge I have hardly any desk space. It's hot. It's a fsckng b!tch to move!
The picture so rocks over a lcd it's worth it.

I have a Samsung 213T (21") LCD which runs at a native 1600 x 1200 and I think it's awesome. Mine has the slow, pathetic, too-horrible-to-mention 25Ms response time but I've watched lots of DVDs from a foot and a half away and don't see any problems. As soon as the HDCP business gets sorted out I want to move up to a 24" but it will be an LCD. I've been using flat panels long enough now that you couldn't pay me to take a CRT.

Get something newer than the 17" Dells you're using, then. Dell doesn't have image quality problems with anything I've picked up recently.

I had some hesitation when I origionally switched from my Sony Trinitron to a Gateway LCD years ago. I've had several LCD's since then and an never going back to CRT's. The color, text, games, moives, the whole nine yards looks better on LCD's, imo.

Most people here wont have $1400 LCDs or $700 CRTs... and the ones that do probably already knew what you had to say.

That's the primary reason I won't be going LCD anytime soon. I don't have the money to go LCD. I'd need two (I refuse to suffer the indiginity of a single display solution at home), that are at least 19" (I am not suffering the indignity of smaller displays) and have a native resolution of at least 1280 x XXX (1600 x XXX is even better). It's too hard for me to justify upgrading one display at a time as well, I find I get headaches when I use a dual-dpisplay solution with one each CRT and LCD. Prices need to come way down for me to switch. Having said that, I'm happy with my displays.
