Not a merging/ramp situation here, but I encountered a stupid driver a few weeks ago. My wife and I were in the process of trying to exit a parking lot. There was one main strip you have to enter in order to exit the lot. I was coming from the side to enter this strip. On the right side, there is a string of cars blocking my view. On the left side, there are high shrubs that need to be trimmed as they are also blocking the view. In order to get into the strip to exit the lot, I slowly crawled from the side, constantly checking left and right to ensure no one was moving from either direction.
Well, the main road onto which the lot exits is a 45 mph street. People constantly will turn right into the lot at a high rate of speed. They don't check to see if there are other cars. This *lady* flies into the lot in her station wagon and I promptly stopped my crawl. She didn't have to swerve, but she got ticked that I wanted into the strip. She promptly slammed on her brakes, stopped in front of me, and started running her mouth, making hand gestures, etc. I raised my left hand in a gesture of "Sorry", even though I did nothing wrong as I stopped from a crawl and was not impeding her. I just wanted her out of the way. She ignored my gesture and kept gesticulating for a good 15 seconds while blocking traffic. It would have been poetic justice for another driver like her to fly into the lot like she did and smack the rear of her car.

so since she had to accelerate to pass me, what she did could have gotten her a ticket had a cop been following her.

This exact same thing actually happened to me last night going home from work. The worst part is that it was in a construction zone and, if I hadn't been able to get in, I would have slammed into a concrete barrier at the end of the very short and tight on-ramp.
But it gets worse from there. The jerk-off in his SUV who didn't want to let me in began to road rage, flashing his brights, and followed me for a couple of miles, even when I tried speeding up and changing lanes. Ridiculous

i was on an ON RAMP. I did EXACTLY what i was supposed to. I got matched speed of oncoming traffic. I positioned myself where there was a nice 3 to 4 car length gap, THEN she suddenly decided to accelerate to prevent me from getting in the lane.
IF you do this to others "just for fun" you are an even bigger imbecile than she is.

i don't entirely get the turn signal thing. 🙂
so i'm in a Left ONLY lane with the Left turn signal red and i'm stopped waiting for the light, do i REALLY need to have the turn signal on to let people know i'm going left?
So i'm making a right out of the parking lot, do i give the LEFT turn signal as i'm MERGING into the left lane beside me or do i give the Right turn signal as i'm actually making a right?

I always signal my intentions. Atlanta is so congested 90% of the time that you pretty much have to do this so people can make room for you. Likewise, if you're in front of me or merging and signal, I'll do my best to accomodate you.
Now, if you take my signal as a cue to speed up and NOT let me in because you're an asshole, I'm going to f*ck with you for the next 10 min as payback. 😀

You should ALWAYS signal. Your problem is that you are slowing down to change lanes when you should always speed up to changes lanes. Then the only way they couldn't let you in would be if you were in some slow POS and they were in a supercar.
Personally, I make a point of always being polite to those who signal and not-so-polite to those who don't. And I know if you're going to change lanes even if you don't signal. I see you edge over to the left side of your lane and check your blind spot...
edit: hey, aren't you one of those all-people-who-speed-are-evil trolls yet you brag that you don't signal? WTF, people who don't signal are more dangerous than speeders in my book, and both are against the law.

Actually I don't slow down to change lanes. I give it gas while I change lanes so that the car behind me doesn't need to brake.
The only problem I have with the people coming in are those that go 15 mph on the highway coming in and doesn't even give it gas at all.
oh god... on-ramp incidents are the worst.. I HATE LOSER DRIVERS THAT GO 1 MPH ON THE ON-RAMP TO A MOVING HIGHWAY AND YOU GET SCREWED BECAUSE OF IT... they are my pet peeve of driving!

Trust me, they can read the signs...they know exactly what they are doing and it doesn't matter to them in least just as long as they can save 10 minutes at everyone else's expense...
I know it will never happen, but it would be great if no one would let those f$ckers cut in... i'll bet it's those same ba$tards that run red lights. I guess they just dont give a f$ck about anyone else...

another driving pet peeve. There's a 2 lane road here where the speed limit changes in the middle between 2 lights. Going one way, its 35 moving to 45. So the idiots go 30, see the sign that says 45 and crawl up to 42, helped along by the fact that they see my headlights very clearly in their leftside mirror. Coming back the other way, they somehow miss the speed limit 45 sign, and must again be encouraged by my close presence, then when I back off a little when it turns to 35 (going 42 instead of 47), they start pulling away for some reason. Most annoying thing ever, because I can't pass them, I can only express my displeasure nonverbally. I've given more expressions of frustartion in the 2 months I've had a car in Williamsburg than I ever did in northern Virginia. Drivers there may be annoying, but generally they are either a) fast drivers proceeding at a respectable speed, or b) slow assholes who can be passed on a multiple lane road.
