the whole incident occurred on Route 1 NJ. Route 1 is one of those on again off again limited access. so about 1/8 mile past the onramp in question there is a stop light that we ALL ended up stopping at.

I just don't get stupid people.

See... and you wonder why jersey insurance is so high! fricking morons. I dreaded driving from Bucks county, PA to Princeton NJ every morning for work going down Rt 1.

I had an incident going to Ikea.

There was traffic on Rt 4 and I wanted to get into the left lane. There was about 8 car gap between the front car and the rear car on the left lane so I signaled to get in.

The b!tch in a Nissan Maxima sped up to try and not let me in but I got in.
I look at the rear view mirror and her mouth moving, saying "Fuk You" blah blah.
I courteously lowered my front window and as any driver would flip her the bird and went 5mph literally. (Traffic was clearing up) and rest of the others in diff lane was going 35-40.

If she puts the signal on to switch lane, I would speed up so she wouldn't switch and when she came behind me, I would speed down again to like 5-10mph and flipped her the bird again.

She wouldn't dare get near my rear bumper. For all she knows I could have just slammed on my brake.

LMAO! She deserved it too.

It's called population density 😛
We have more people/land avail in NJ than you do in PA.

I have a perfect driving record. 😛

People often make this mistake. the majority of NJites live in Metro areas, Heck the whole of North NJ is practically one big metro area. the population density of Northern NJ ranks with ANY major metropolitan city in the US. you CAN'T compare their rates to the rates of Hicksville, PA. shoot, PA has about 20 times the land mass of NJ with roughly the same population?

pulease. it has NOTHING to do with driver skill and a LOT more to do with congestion.

Go to I-83 in Pennsylvania and try to merge onto the highway. It won't happen. Merge lanes are rarely more than a car length long. You have to stop dead, wait for a gap the size of Alaska, and then floor it.

Fortunately, the Maryland side has much more generous merge lanes - except that one annoying one at Shawan where the merge lane is also the turn lane to go back onto Shawan.

In regards to that on ramp beef I agree if the on ramp is long enough. On Route 9 near me, 2 lanes either direction, there's the world's shortest on ramp. It comes down from an overpass, it has no shoulder on it's right side, just a sheer concrete wall, and the ramp for merging is max 100 feet long. Well it never fails that I'll be going that way and someone will fly down that ramp at 60 with no place to merge to and cut me off. They do it all the time. In a case like that where there is no room to get up to speed while you can look for an opening at the same time, you really need to stop on the ramp and wait for an opening big enough to allow you to merge in and get up to speed. One of these days I'm not going to slam on the brakes but just keep going. They'll either slam into me or hit that concrete wall. Now here's a good question, if they slam into the side of my car while merging, they'll be at fault right? In New York there's a law that states if you're making a right on red, you have to have enough clearance to be 100 feet out of the intersection before the oncoming cars get near you(or something to that effect). So if you get rear ended after making that right on red, and you're within 100 feet of the intersection you're still at fault even though they rearended you. I wonder if the same applies for on ramps? It seems to me though, that the oncoming traffic has the right of way, not the cars that need to merge on from a slower speed.

I think you misunderstood me. I was talking about when people decide that they don't know how to read when a lane is getting closed for construction. There are maybe a half a dozen cars a minute that decide that they're too good to wait in line with everyone else. I just hang out in the other lane (the one that's getting closed) so that they can't get in front of me. They're costing me time and my time is just as important to me as theirs is to them. (Incidentally, this only works on two lane roads.) I am merely helping the bottleneck in front of me, I end up hurting noone but the selfish pricks (as you so eloquently put it).

i do the same. the other day i saw this jeep weaving in and out of traffic....and it was stupid too. he'd jerk the wheel and change lanes suddenly instead of changing lanes gradually, even though he/she had enuff space to do a gradual change w/ signals. well he was approaching some stopped traffic and cut off a 18 wheeler and the trucker had to hit the brakes like crazy to the point where smoke came out of the truck's tires. that would piss off anyone....but what the trucker did really made my day. he crept up behind this jeep..like nearly upto his back bumper. then he let his loud @$$ horn go on him. i 2 lanes was diagonal from the jeep guy...so i could see him. he nearly jumped out of his seat when the trucker let him have it. haha it scared the jeep guy so much that he drove all normal after that

well i'm at the gap and as i'm about to go in i notice the moron behind me is ACCELERATING. apparently she doesn't want me to get in front of her.

OMFG, it's not like i'm PASSING HER, i was WAY ahead of her when i hit the onramp, my lane is ENDING. so i let her pass and get in behind her, but WTF is wrong with people.

it's not even a matter of courtesy, I was IN FRONT of her with space to spare, MY lane was ENDING. I didn't just hit this lane in order to PASS her, it was a FVCKING on ramp.

YTF would she want to accelerate pass me??

i don't get people sometimes.

Here's what really happened:

There's a ton of traffic. You; have PLENTLY of time to merge, but you want that FARTHEST POSSIBLE SPACE right as the onramp is merging down to nothing you try and FORCE your way in (thus getting an extra 15 feet in front of everyone else)

j/k.. but that really is what people do here in atlanta. GR.
