<< if you read the last line of number 4 on the rebate form, it also says that it must be post-marked by Feb. 28, 2k1 to receive the rebate. either fuji's got a bunch of idiots working for them, or they just want to screw everyone out of their rebates. >>

Its apparently a typo,on line two on the back of the rebate form it says "offer is redeemable if postmarked no later than midnight Febuary 28, 2002 for purchesas made between November 2, 2001 and January 31, 2002.
As for the UPCs from the camera and battery charger kit,the camera does come with a charger and batteries.
That whole line #4 seems to come from some other offer.
Line one and the front of the rebate form clearly states Purchase a Fuji FinePix 2600 Zoom digital camera and any SmartMedia memory card between november 2, 2001 and January 31, 2002 and receive up to $35 cash back by mail.
Also after line 5 in the next colum under the addresse info it states again "All rebate requests must be post marked no later than midnight Febuary 28, 2002. Please allow 6-8 weeks........"
I do beleive we will be alright on this one.Fuji is a huge corporation,I really dont think they want to screw there customer base.Just a little error on there part.:p

I just called Fuji: 2600Z/SMedia $35 rebate

Line 4 date is a typo and the rebate slip is valid according to line 2.

If the Smart Media is on a seperate receipt from the 2600, send both receipt copies.
She also suggested to send the SM UPC also-as a just in case.

I did a similar deal yesterday AM with Staples yesterday. I pricematched this camera with www.xtremeshopper.com which brought the price down from $299 to $238. Then I used the $40 off $200 coupon to get the price to $198. After taxes it was $215.74 shipped. Not too shabby and since I live in TN we get ripped off on shipping. I'm sure it'd be closer to $210 in most states that have a state income tax. This is a good alternative to those who want a more simple deal. This would be a coupon and a PM and it's instant. I'm not sure about the Passport deal.... But you would get the camera for around $210 shipped and you are still eligable for the Smartmedia deal.

BTW: Fuji's rebate tele. # 800-800-fuji, was under the impression that the SM and camera had to be bought at the same time and place. I didn't question the time aspect since I did buy both together, but shipped seperately.

First Blue!
I got a "Dear Bob" from Blue. They wanted the receipt, since 800.com broke the shipments up and they couldn't verify the charge amt. I cleared up the charge, but faxed in the receipt also. The max. price match is $292.90 as billed/charged, but could be $285.95 if shipping is deducted, with $15 "all elect. on sale" discount. PMed to buydig.com $223, but they weren't the issue. They originally asked for e-mail confirmation, but said the receipt can be faxed/mailed in before they ask in this kind of situation, to avoid confusion.

Scarpozzi,

You got lucky, because most people are reporting that most Staples CSRs will not price-match AND allow you to use a coupon anymore. I'm sure someone else will chime in and tell me I'm wrong, but that's the general concensus right now.

YMMV.

Hi - How did you get a price of $223 at buydig.com? I'm there right now and it is $248.
Did they raise the price since you did the pricematch? (though your post was from earlier today...)

Regards, TwF

Hi all,

Got my Accessory Kit on Friday but the Tripod was missing. Called 800.com.
They mailed the Tripod on Friday via Priority Mail.

Camera is excellent. Outdoor Pictures are awesome. Indoor Pictures come a bit dark if there is not enough lighting.Video quality is also good. Only if it captured Audio also...
Well for around 170$ + (50$ Gift check) I think it is a steal.
The extra batteries come in real handy.

Thanks a lot for posting this deal

:)

Finally got my kit today!
It was the first to ship, but the last thing that came.Neat stuff in there, the case is awesome!Camera fits snug in there with just enough room to slid a couple batteries pon one side and a SM card on the other.Love the tripod too.
Also didnt realize you get FOUR NH batteries!Nice!
I will definently do buisness with 800.com again.Surely if they keep giving stuff away!
Now I have just to wait for my $35 FUIJI rebate & $80 MSN reward.:)

That mini tripod is so embarrassing that it subtracts value from the accessory kit.

Oh btw, someone complained that the NiMH batteries that came w/ the FinePix 2600z didn't last long. If you read the fine print somewhere in the documentation, it states that new NiMH batteries require about 3-4 charge/discharge cycles before they operate normally.

I was rather disappointed w/ the camera's performance with alkaline batteries (you can't use the LCD display to take shots at all). I wonder if Duracell Ultras or Energizer e2 titanium would make a difference. The documentation clearly says to use alkalines only in emergency situations, so this is an excusable "issue".

Also, the USB connectivity in WinXP (and I assume Win2K) is disappointing. From what I can tell, once you "stop" the device/drivers and disconnect the camera, reconnecting the camera won't "plug n' play" the device.

You have to reboot to restore connectivity. The manual suggests that Win9x and Me don't have this problem (i.e. it's a fundamental flaw in Win2K and XP operatings systems plug n' play). I'm curious if other digital cameras operate more seamlessly with Win2K/XP?

Finally, anyone have any idea if/when WinXP would have the new WIA (image acquisition) drivers for this camera? In the future, this will be the standard driver model for digital cameras, and is already supported in such applications as PaperPort 8.0. If this digicam gets that type of driver, it would interface more seamlessly with WinXP-native apps of the future.

manly,

I have this camera and am running WinXP. I haven't encountered your aforementioned problem. Do you click on the little hardware icon in your system tray and tell it to disconnect? This is per the instructions they gave along with the new WinXP drivers d/led from their website. Of course, being forgetful, I've often forgotten to do this and have just unplugged my camera anyway. Either way, I've always been able to plug my camera right back in and upload pictures later without having to reboot my computer. Sorry I don't have any real solution, just wanted to let you know that it works fine for me so it might be something other than the camera.
