OMGWTF AMERICANS EATING TOO MUCH BBQ

http://reuters.iwon.com/articl..._ODD-AMERICANS-DC.html

Weights, however, have ballooned. The average weight of an adult man was 166.3 pounds in 1960 and 191 pounds in 2002, while the average weight for women went from 140.2 pounds to 164.3 pounds.

Living in California I have to say these results shock me, as the average person here is a good deal thinner, especially the women.

To see just a 140 lb. woman is usually grotesque enough, but 164 lb. to me makes her absolutely detestable to look at..AND when you consider that this is all on a 5'4" frame, the thought sends shivers down my spines. If I had to guess, the average weight for a woman around here is ~115-120 or so. And while I've seen a whole lot of men over 191 pounds..though those guys are usually 6'2" and above, it's rare to ever see a woman over 160 pounds.

So do these results seem skewed to anyone else, or is the rest of America just complete lardasses?

PS I searched for FAT which came up with nothing related to this article.

166 doesn't seem so bad. i am 5'6", nearing 16 years old, and 140 pounds. i'm not fat =) maybe us americans are becoming more muscular 😉

I hope you mean the new average

Here's a pic.

I'm over 191, but only 5'11". Apparently I'm fairly fat. Also, my girlfriend is 10lbs shy of "grotesque", according to Syringer.

Syringer - maybe you are bad at estimating people's weight, because there are PLENTY of people above those numbers.

I wonder what the average height to go with that weight is? 190lbs on a 6'2" frame doesn't seem like that's too big at all, but if it's based on say a 5'9" frame, I can see that as being a little overweight.

I'm assuming that's you and your gf in the pic. That being said, neither one of you looks fat, regardless of what the average is.

How tall is she?

I'd say most girls who are 5'3" and 140lb are probably packing just a little more than they should be..
