Weights, however, have ballooned. The average weight of an adult man was 166.3 pounds in 1960 and 191 pounds in 2002, while the average weight for women went from 140.2 pounds to 164.3 pounds.
Living in California I have to say these results shock me, as the average person here is a good deal thinner, especially the women.
To see just a 140 lb. woman is usually grotesque enough, but 164 lb. to me makes her absolutely detestable to look at..AND when you consider that this is all on a 5'4" frame, the thought sends shivers down my spines. If I had to guess, the average weight for a woman around here is ~115-120 or so. And while I've seen a whole lot of men over 191 pounds..though those guys are usually 6'2" and above, it's rare to ever see a woman over 160 pounds.
So do these results seem skewed to anyone else, or is the rest of America just complete lardasses?
PS I searched for FAT which came up with nothing related to this article.
