I love this thread. XD Partly because it's good to still see someone with an older 870 like that. I have one too, and while it's fast, it's not properly optimized for in a lot of things.

Hi.

I only got this, 2 1/2 year old in perfect condition system, used, on ebay recently, for very good price, given what other people pay there for almost exactly the same system. Chose it very carefully. First, I know my computer needs---who doesn't like speed, but my needs are quite modest.... and checking out the benchmarks for this Lynnfield carefully....it was a go.

I went from a PD 3.40 (Presler) system with DDR2, running W7 32 bit (tho the Presler is 64 bit capable), upgraded from XP.....to this. Overall benchmark rating for the Presler is .759. Our chip is rated at 5.438. that.....says it all.

I am in heaven.

Old, in chips....like so many things, is relative and individual user specific.

Behold one of your offerings, below...

Best thread ever!!!

No Koalas were harmed in the making of this thread.

I just both giggled and got tears. You just won a Grammy for best single of the year.

And, for your Signature, a small Pulitzer.

Having never bothered to vote on a thread until now, I just voted this one "excellent" to cancel you out! :p

My mom told me early on that chivalry was dead and I was too trusting. So, I self protectively worked to reduce my expectations and learned to fend for myself. And there you are, galloping in on the white stallion, holding some Medieval flag aloft, backed by a thundering but elegant music track.

How lovely.
