see if there is any option on the bios, some allow you to disable cores, set a maximum number of cores.

How long have they been missing?

I have no clue!!!! When I first set system up....I remember Speed Fan showed all 4 normally. I even posted here cause I was worried about the temps, put up a screenie and someone here said, Not to worry, they are normal.

Deep breaths....go to bios. OMG. Maybe I fiddled with the wrong thing in the bios. Must find out. Nobody go away, pls; nobody watch Emmys. Cause I am suddenly having a CORE CRISIS.

K....here is a report:

Multicore Support is ON
Hyperthreading is ON
Turboboost is ON
Speedstep is ON.
Enable CPUD is Not On.

What should I do?????

Thank you. I am a little upset.

EDIT: I am delving on the interwebs (instead of throwing up).....found some guy with same problem, he finally posted this, below....I did, at some point update drivers and the bios to latest version.

Oct 22, 2011 8:53 PM (in response to Booga1289)I got it. It was my fault I tried to fast track and just move my HDDs over to the new board without doing fresh re install of Windows 7. I just did a quick dirty install on a spare HDD and all 8 threads were visible (4 cores / 8 threads). So I'll set up for a fresh install.

What I did try prior to OS:
1) MSconfig for processors for boot up, only 4 showed.

2) Regedit to "unpark" cores found in Resource Monitor.

3) Adjusted Advanced power settings for processor from active to passive.

4) Complete review of Bios, Cores set to All, Flashed to latest version

5) Complete driver review by Intel and updates.

Hope this helps someone in need.

All you need to do is run msconfig, boot, advanced options, set to 1 core, reboot, then go back to msconfig, set to 8, reboot..

OK, now... I am truly nauseated. I set the core to one, I rebooted, I went back into msconfig>boot>advanced....and NOW I ONLY HAVE ONE CORE OPTION IN THE DROP DOWN MENU.

Wut....is going on??????

Edit: U think I messed something up in the registry cause I am compulsive reg cleaning person?

Edit 2: I think I will boot into my bacup drive and see if this terrible thing I am positive I am responsible for is there too.

EDIT THREE, EUREKA!

OK, I do sometimes have good instincts. I booted into my backup drive, went to msconfig, etc.....and in there, the drop down menu showed 8 cores option normally! So, I set it on 8, rebooted, am now back in Piggy, my main drive, and OMG...in here it is now normal too!

But I must run the app again to make sure. Bet I did this via compulsive reg cleaning between my last cloning and now.

Now feel a bit less nauseated. OMG, my poor chip!!!!!

BURPO! May God bless U and the Muthaship which Brung YOU!!!!!!

My bad, should have told you to uncheck number of processors, THEN reboot, then select 8. Anyway you got it..

Mine has more, but I paid $100 more than you did :p

U mean with this amazing chip, you paid 100 more for the entire system? Without my additional RAM, I paid $352 plus 23 shipping for this amazing to me, warpspeed... puppy.

For yr entire rig you paid $475? No waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Wow. So amazing of you to post this!!!

My feeling is, even in the midst of PMS or that you killed two cores in yr chip...you can always find the funny.

Esp....when you are among friends.

WAY!!!!! Most impressive specs at most amazing cost on the ENTIRE PLANET. I mean it!

But......you are not factoring in the cost ongoing of paying the guys who must protect you from that heatsink attacking you!!!!():)

Indeed. Thelma Schoonmaker could not want better in her (Now digital) editing for Scorsese!

I am thrilled tho, that my CPU subscore is 7.4, and my RAM, 7.5. Not in this life will I ever need a system to do what you do! So, for me, what I now have....is far beyond what I will ever need.

FAB RIG YOU HAVE.....very scary heatsink, tho.:sneaky:

OP= Original Poster, can also mean Original Post.

Tweakboy was apparently some former forum participant infamous for his inane comments.

That's NOT to say I think your posts are inane, just providing requested info!

Hi!

Thanks so much for the clarification! As far as he or she who is moved to hurl invective.....my absolute take is, it's sour grapes. Alas. Reclaiming the blessed capacity for spontaneity and joy, should anyone be estranged from those goodies....can be done. We are not, thank God....software.

And, serious as a heart attack and non gratuitous humor and joy... are never mutually exclusive.

Thanks again!!!!
