Get this: my neighbor decides she wants to buy me a video card for helping her fix her computer (man, all I did was get rid of all her spyware that was ruining her computer). I get a doorbell from her the next day and bam'o, a freakin' EVGA 7800GTX!!!! I was shocked and all I could say was "uhhhhhh please come inside". She told me that since I had helped her countless times with her computer (I believe I helped her like 50+ times) she decided she would buy me a video card.

Guys, what the hell do I do? Its PCIe and I have a AGP mobo with a 6800GT... Do I keep the card until I upgrade or sell it on ebay? I mean, I can play BF2 at 1280x1024 reso with settings on medium/high but think at what reso I can play with this card?! Do I shell out money for PICE board and new CPU? I have a 660W GTri PSU, a great case, and all the fixin's...

Anyways, I would like to say to you all that kindness truly does pay off. I believe my 29 year-old neighbor is the next-best lady in the entire world (my mum of course is number one)

Give it back to her and ask for more...

You know what i mean, the dirty kind...

Now back on topic. You could probably get a tidy sum if you sell of the unneccessary or unusable parts of your computer and you would be able to get a cracking set up!

She likes you, to buy you a $500 GPU! Get it ooooonnnnn!

Hmm i think ill go now...

Damn, man, thats awesome.

Um, personally, if it was me, I would upgrade, but I like upgrading.

However since your current system seems to suit you well, its hard decision. I mean $500 or so would be awfully nice to be able to spend elsewhere.

Sell the 6800GT, buy a PCIE motherboard, send her a nice thank you card. Be happy for the $500 gift.

I find it very odd that a woman who knows ah heck all about computers chooses a video card as a way of saying thanks. I could understand her baking you something, or possibly offering you cash, but to somehow pick the one item that all young guys want for their PC's I find this highly strange. I call shens as well.

Then again, the nice lady could've walked into the computer store, and said to the salesperson, "Get me the best video card you have, money is no object!".

Hey, It's possible. :)

Dude, sell the 6800 and the mobo and CPU and upgrade pronto to make the 7800GTX more comfy in your rig.

True, anything's possible :)

Re-reading the original post, it does sound sincere and if it really happened, then congrats to the OP! that's one sweet present. Kindness truly does pay off (in the long run)

Well, if he's a big gamer, and he knows his neighbor fairly well, I'm sure he's mentioned to her that he likes to game on his computer on more than one occasion. The lady probably walked into CompUSSR or Bestbuy, went to the computer hardware section, and asked a sales rep what would be the best thing for playing video games, and there you go.

What is your current setup? I understand you have a 6800GT and some sort of AGP mobo, but you should be more specific. What CPU and Mobo are you running? You may be in a perfect position to sell your 6800GT and be able to pick up a replacement CPU/Mobo tailored to your needs.

first of all what dose "shens" mean exactly?

second of all good job! your kindness was rewarded and with a damn nice card too!

I recomend that you sell your 6800gt and your MB and if necessary your CPU and upgrade to a setup that will do the 7800gtx justice.
IT IS YOUR DESTINY.
