Actually France is in the forefront of medical research. The Pastuer Institute is on of the best in the world. In fact, the French were the first to isolate the HIV virus. And California universities and research centers are to a great extent because of California being part of a much larger and far richer country than France, the U.S.Originally posted by: DVK916

Yeah, how can France, which is the less than twice the population California, have developed. on their own, nuclear submarines, aircraft carriers, build their own nuclear power plants that supply over 75 percent of their electricity, have one of the best universal health care systems in the world, send troops to fight in Afghanistan, build and run the fastest bullet trains in the world and still manage to have 35 hour work week and give almost the whole country the month of August for vacation?
Whatever it is they have, I hope we get some of it here in the U.S.
It is amazing how California a state with less than 1/2 of france population spends more on medical research than the whole nation of france. How it has done more to advance humanity in most areas of scientific research, and how it has some of the best Universities in the world.
PerCapita spent on medical research in france is WAY WAY less than the U.S. And France isn't at the forefront of the Medical Research, the U.S is. Most medical advancements come from the U.S, and more come from California than France. On Cancer research for example, the state of California spends over three times that of france, despite having a smaller GDP than france.
