It's been 9 years...I wonder how much has been changed. Plus, i forgot most of my old accounts, gonna start fresh (good by GF sword, windforce, ballista u name it )

What's the best build these days? I'm planning for farm some gear >_>
Cow levels, are the still popular?
Mephisto still dropping rare gear? etc etc etc

If you fail to notice the "LOD" the first time, you're not a die-hard Diablo fan.

haven't played D2 in a while, but that stuff is considered gear for the poor man

I haven't played 1.11, but ...

All the expensive stuff are high rune runewords (by now, I mean for the past 4-6 years or so, I haven't really played since 2008) or super good rares or crafteds. Enigma, BotD, CTA, Zod'ed ethereal uniques (HoZ, other hammerdin stuff), are pricey stuff. Most pricey are high +skills rares or crafteds.

Some more common stuff is also worth a little bit of change, like high MF chanceguards, shako, CoA, arach, pretty much uniques that are + skills or + MF.

I think WF is still worth a bit, but Faith runeword I think is the preferred PvM bow.

At least when I played, high rune duping was pretty rampant, so even those would devalue as the season got going.

It wouldnt matter if you remembered your pw or not, chars are deleted after 90 days of being inactive.

Well those items are worthless now anyways I started playing again for a month back ~2009 and someone handed me arcanes valor and a gf sword proclaiming it to be "junk". Runewords seem to be the new high end stuff and high runes (HR's) the new currency. Cow levels are replaced by baal runs.

Best builds as far as i know are hammerdins and the more versatile wind druid, both are great at PvP and PvE, wind druid is better IMO. Every character can now teleport with enigma armor, so getting that is a must.

Games more fucked now than it was in 1.09 :awe: Was still fun for a month though.

Ah not necessarily. They changed that a while ago i believe, if you dont log into your char for 90 days it is marked as inactive, you can still access it again and make it active though.

It is only deleted if the character is marked as inactive and someone else on another account makes a new character with the exact same name. So picking an unpopular name like rapistNaziSheepOfDoom may work in your characters favour.

True, but does that apply to people who havent played since before 2005? Honestly I dont know.

As per the gameplay itself, cow level is almost a waste of time now unless your leveling to up to hell, anything after that baal runs give more exp and since cow level was nerfed to the ground in regards to drops, its better for loot too. Meph drops decent gear but not anything super end game and the best gear is almost all runewords or + skill rares.

News to me - a couple years ago I lost characters because of 90 days.

I always start with a MF sorc, so I can TP into the bosses and speed up farming runs. I used to multibox and rush low level chars to hell to get high level runes (cube them up from the 3 forge quests) but from what I hear a lot of the old rushing techniques have been blocked.

I can't stand Diablo 2 these days. Just reinstalled for the fifth time last fall, and literally every game is spammed by bots - so much spam, that the entire chat log was present on my screen for 90% of the time I played with bot seller messages.

Also be prepared to be constantly whispered by those bots also, in game and in the online hub.

If I ever play D2 again, it will be single player only.

I remember my d2 days like it was yesterday. I say if you restart, get a cold sorc, I remember I always use one of these to mf, it uses no gears at all. until you find a 'gull' then keep mfing w/ her. but with d3 so close, I think most people would just go for that when it comes out.

Last time I played, I remember they had introduced some new warp that required some special keys to get to. Then when you got in there it was incredibly strong versions of the bosses. We got our asses handed to us and never looked back.

You mean the "Pandemonium event"/Uber Tristram?

Yeah on second thought I guess I did play 1.11, because I remember people were looking for hellfire torches and keys.

I remember I used to farm Countess for keys.

I'd go with some sort of sorc build if you want to farm gear. Usually I would just run countess over and over and over to get t keys and the occasional mid runes (countess can drop up to vex I think) and trade them off for other keys/gear. I think I had like 40+ t keys, and a couple of keysets when I quit. Last time I played was ~ 2010.

If you want to solo the ubers than your gonna need a smiter. There maybe a few others that can do it solo now, I just remember everyone going for smiters.

Also, I was always under the impression that you lost you character after 90 days of inactivity? Them changing it is news to me. I'm almost tempted to try and log in an again just to see if anyhing is still there.
