Ah hell...I'm used to that by now. Perhaps the worst "memory dump" was going to see the Marshall Tucker Band a few years back D:😱

Only one member of the original band, and they sounded like shit. Worse than many bar bands...😵 I can barely stand to hear their music on the radio nowadays because of it...my ears still bleed. 😛
 
I panicked at first too, until I saw who the showrunner was. Bryan Fuller is the one person that could ever hope to get it right.
 
I watched Munsters reruns growing up, and watched some again recently. I think the show aged really well. Its better than almost all of CBS's shit comedies which are quite similar (cheesy jokes and laugh tracks). The sad thing is, even today, the Munsters is more original.

Hmm, that does make it more interesting.

Those that don't know, he produced and wrote for Star Trek Voyager, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies and Heroes.

Anyway, there were a variety of 'copy' shows. Addams family and Munsters, Bewitched and I dream of Jeanie, Gilligan's Island and Lost.

OK, I'm kidding.

But that'd make a nice urban legend, that J. J. Abrams took a bet that he couldn't make a remake of Gilligan's Island as the inspiration for Lost.

This is the first time TV has been criticized for hackery though, isn't it?

It's funny, one of the few isolated societies left on the planet is Bhutan.

They were the last country in the world to allow tv, and they widely regret it.

Now they have their children obsessed with wrestling shows, and their teens emulating 'gangs' with attitudes. They had to ban the wrestling channel.
 
it's supposed to be less sitcom more drama so should be an interesting twist. and as long as it has the Marilyn character i will watch at least the pilot.
 
Maybe they could have a warning before shows like this that if you are over thirty years old you must be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol before watching.
 
I always preferred the Addams Family, but the Munsters was kind of cool. There's about a 2% chance it won't suck.

I'm still looking for strike 3. Rest assured, there is a strike 3 and this show will be complete crap.
 
NBC didn't get their money's worth on that pilot, which is a shame since Bryan Fuller should have done better.
 
I was thinking - it's kind of funny - shows were original back then, and a lot were very good concepts and well done. No one paid for cable back then; it was all free ota.

Now, everyone has $100+ cable bills each month, crappy actors are commanding 100's of thousands of dollars per episode, there's no originality, and horrible acting.
 
i just watched it online, it is actually pretty good.

the primary update/twist is that they are serious monsters more or less. eddie izzard is doing a full on brahm stoker dracula/gary oldman version of granpa who is a unrepentant malevolence. herman(oconnell) is good natured human who sort of married his way into becoming a monster, lily(portia derossi) is a vampire with regrets, and marilyn is supposed to be the normal one has the demeanor of a sociopath(makes for some nice dialogue). people actually die/are killed. the dialogue is entirely worth it.

pilot written by brian fuller(pushing daisies) directed by bryan singer(xmen/houseMD)

not sure how well it will do in the follow up episodes, but i'll give it a chance.
