not sure how well it will do in the follow up episodes, but i'll give it a chance.
There won't be any follow-up episodes unless NBC orders more. This was basically a pilot burn-off with the option to order a full series if NBC thinks the pilot did extremely well.

I couldn't even make it through the entire pilot last night. Just awful.

I saw some of it indirectly (was in the kitchen and could see the tv) and it was terrible. I've never seen the Munsters, but this show was bad.

NBC Orders ‘The Munsters’ Reboot to Pilot

http://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/the-set/nbc-orders-munsters-reboot-pilot-165508698.html

I was a kid when the original Munsters were on television. It was campy-funny, but not great television...even for the 60's.

When are these stupid fucking network people going to actually develop something that's both original and good?

It was a second-rate "Adams Family" at the time but since that's got about 3 remakes under the belt it was time to raid Munsters I guess. You know it's not that this gets made that bothers me so much it's when will the next "Shawshank Redemption" come along, sadly, I think it those types of films are long gone, as Andy Dufrane would say " hope is the best of things" but I have zero hope Hollywood has anything left in the tank, that's the sad part..

The whole problem with the show is they missed the point of what made the Munsters funny: They were monsters that didn't know they were monsters.

The new show doesn't play on that at all and comes off as stupid. It's like a show that they would have on Disney channel on Sat. mornings.

the primary update/twist is that they are serious monsters more or less.

The twist is that the monsters are monsters. Not really a twist is it?

If they wanted something darker than The Munsters, they should have done the Addams Family or an original series. I think the show is just going to seriously disappoint any Munster fans.

Stop watching TV. Read more. Or go find some good shows in the internet.
If you watch prime time television you are sending the message these shows are wanted.

If I could bring back any show, it would be the Twilight Zone. They tried it in the 80s, but they were more concerned about special effects rather than good stories. It was ok, but nothing like the originals. If they could do it with the same good story telling as the original series, it would become my favorite show. I'd buy it on DVD.

if you look at the original formula: monsters with hearts of gold, they were just nice people with disturbing appearances. fred gwynn's herman was a pussycat who couldnt hurt a fly, lily was macabre but absolutely generous and gracious, eddie barely even acted like a wolf, and granpa was goof and a terrible magic user. marilyn was a pinup model who they ragged on for being ugly and that was the limit of her role.

if all you do is take the same formula with new actors then it is automatically a fail with audiences.

Fuller does whimsy with threat/menace/drama. this isnt a full on camp sitcom. people who liked dead like us and pushing daisies are fine with what they were attempting.
