and it worked!!!!!!!

A couple of the guys in the bay I work in decided to pull a couple pranks on one of the people also in the bay. They readjusted the chair, put tape on the phone and they were looking for something else and they looked at me and I just held up my optical mouse and waved it.

One got the idea and yeah, the person just sat down and for the past 10 minutes has been trying to figure out why the mouse isnt responding.

It's a wireless one, they've reset the connection and replaced batteries. funny as hell!

There are a lot of things you can do to make an optical mouse stop working. Which method specifically did you use?

i did that to some ppl in my group for April fools one year.

the least technically inclined woman in our office was the one that figured it out first.

not that it takes a genius to figure this out or anything, but it was pretty ironic seeing the tech-guys on the floor messing with their towers.

Can you explain the mouse one again a little more in detail. I'd like to do it on my coworker.

Take a pen and smash the little laser inside. That should render the mouse useless.

yeah, I don't get it. Mouse doesn't work it goes in the trash can, not really that funny. I like switching left and right click in the mouse setup though, that's amusing to watch.

The best is taking a small vulgar picture of something and taping it to the bottom of the mouse. For instance, a small image of Ponch pointing at you with his jacket thrown over his shoulder.

Person tries to use their mouse, it doesn't work...They turn it over and Ponch points at them. Works every time. :D

hahahaha, i just did it on my coworker. He went to the bathroom, so I went over there and put a piece of scotch tape under his mouse. He came back and all I could hear was his mouse moving rapidly back and forth across his desk. Then I heard him clicking the mouse buttons furiously and then he unplugged the mouse and plugged it back in.

Hahahhaa, good laugh.

I've done this before also on a techie type guy. He didn't think it was very funny at all, after reseating the mouse 3-4 times, rebooting, etc. I finally told him and he was furious!

How do I do that wallpaper trick on my coworker? I don't know how to take a snapshop of the desktop.

never tell them. let them figure it out on their own. I dont care if it takes a week and the "replacement" mice all have the same... issue. :D

there is a button on the keyboard called... Prt Scrn

use it

it takes a snapshot of the monitor and then paste that into a image editor and voila!

It's best if you have something like notepad open. They'll spend forever trying to close it.

First thing you do, is minimize any programs that are open. Then press print screen. Go to Start --> Run --> mspaint. CTRL+V into MSpaint, file, save. Open it in IE or whatever program you want, right click, set as wallpaper. From there, right click somewhere empty on the desktop, Arrange Icons By, and uncheck "show desktop icons". As a last step, drag the start bar so that only a sliver is showing at the bottom of the screen, so when they press the start button, nothing happens. :D

I like the old screenshot-of-desktop-set-as-background one. If you do it to a not so savvy user. its hours of entertainement.

The "unclosable pop up" addition adds alot of time to knowledgable users.
