OMG MY DAD JUST LOST HIS JOB.

Yea, he just told me today. 🙁 He used to work at Sun Microsystems for like 6 years and then his boss came in today and told him they were doing job cuts and he was one of them. 🙁 This sucks, my mom doesn't have a job and experience and we mostly relied on him for income. He just told me that Sun laid off 4k people last October. I don't think he would of lost his job if he had a different boss, he got this boss like two years ago and been having personal problems with this a$$hole. My Dad never did anything wrong, ever. He is one of the most hard working guys in that office. All his friends there are so pissed. My Mom is off the wall right now thinking of the worst............today sucks........🙁
 
Man I know how that feels. My dad has been in that situation several times, but luckily he was able to find another position immediately. I hope things work out for you and the best way to get through it is just to be supportive of your family.
 
That sucks man. 🙁 I'm sure things will work out. The severance package he''ll get will be ok for now and I'm sure he find something better. Look on the bright sid, you won't have people messing with you about being rich stuff. 🙂

This never, ever happened to him, ever. He also said that if he had another boss this would of never happened, he would of still of been there. He was the best guy for that job, I really can't get in it because of issues with Sun but he was the best guy for the job, I don't know who is going to fill that job but my dad said he doesn't give a flying fvck. :|

My mom will be out of work at the end of this month, & my dad could possibly be out of work this summer. Kinda makes me feel guilty to be as secure as I am & making $30,000+ at 19. 😱

Granted, I could lose my job, but due to the nature of the work I do my job security is higher during times like this.

There isn't any severance package! His boss was in his office when he got there and told him and walked him out! :| :| :| :disgust:

I am 16 and I can't find a job! I do a lot of side work on computers by fixing people's computers, that's how I pay for all my sh|t.........oh you don't know how mad I am right now......🙁
 
Maybe your dad should talk to your bosses' boss. It's not the best idea to go above your boss, but since it is no longer you dad's boss, I say what the hell.

His bosses boss got fired! He told me that he was there for about 20 years and got canned like last week! :Q
 
there will be a severance package. there will be some papers your dad have to sign and or, but in the end he will have his serverance package. at lease 2 months wages if he he has to pack his stuff right way. good luck.

Yeah - If they fire him for no particular reason, just "downsizing" then he is entitled to severence. Otherwise, if your dad was fired for negligence, fraud, low productivity, harrassment, or other factors, then he'd be the one screwed.
 
There's has to be a severence package. No way they would not give one after 6 years. When they ask him to sign stuff about not giving away secrets or bad mouthing them etc, they'll offer it in return.

I was laid off to. Anyways there should be a severence package, stuff to sign with HR otherwise that boss of his could have just lied his ass off and said he had to go. =\ Though I doubt he is that stupid. Anyways contact HR.
 
Did he got laid off or fired? There's a difference there. If he got fired (for violating company policy, etc) he may not be entitled to a severance package. If he got laid off, then a severance package should be in order.. if not, he should talk to a lawyer.

He was terminated because they have "job cuts" and he was picked which is bullsh|t because he even told me that his boss doesn't like my dad............ERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! :| :disgust:
