OMG i got the limited edition Metal Gear Solid PS3!

even if it didn't officially void the warranty. Putting a flamable substance on it probably won't bode well when they open the box to repair it...

EDIT: in no way was i trying to imply this was going to break it. Just that if it does they may not like your mod =)

What model is yours? I wanted to try and snag a MGS4 limited edition bundle before I found out that it is $100 more than the upcoming MGS4 80GB bundle, and it's only a 40GB PS3. 😕
 
A step-by-step pic tutorial would have been epic win. I am particularly interested in how you handled the PS3 logo?
 
The paint looks nice. Yes, please post on how you acheived this. What type of paint did you use? Did you take the parts off in order to keep paint from getting every where else? Will the paint stick to the plastic? Please give details!

Like others have mentioned, I too wanted to get the Limited Edition bundle to have a grey PS3 - but in my opinion, to pay $100 more to get a hard drive that is 40gb is not a good deal.

I currently do not own a PS3 but have been considering one. The piano gloss black is holding me back because I'm afraid it will be scratched and contain a million finger prints.

Yup. $599 gets you a gray 40GB PS3 with matching gray DS3 and a copy of MGS4 LE. Why the hell would you want this over the $499 80GB DS3 + MSG4 bundle? I'm flabbergasted.

About the sanding - how much did you have to sand - did you remove just the clear coat gloss? What type of sand paper did you use?

Also - here is a dumb question - the paint that you used - are those just spray cans?
