Life after college sucks. I cannot even get a part time job, let alone a full time job.

It sucks b/c everyone tells you that in order to have an enjoyable life, you have to go to college and do good. Instead, i see that all my friends who dropped out of colege are having more fun than me. I knew i should have threw my books out and picked up the guitar.

see, you HAD something in mind that you wanted to do, right? but now can't find a job in it. so i don't have something i want to do, but i have a job. both are fairly shitty.

I am so miserable now:(

Life is a lose lose situation.

well atleast i'm not alone.

cheers bud

Agreed!

Been saving like crazy to hopefully retire in 13yrs when I turn 45. Yes, I'll have to move to the midwest but not going to work 50hrs a week will bring me joy!

Whatever it is you're doing, you probably won't be doing it for 30 years, even if you really wanted to.

Barring the unexpected, life is what you make it. The only difference between now and childhood is that now you don't get a free ride; well, that and now you have much more interest in sex. If it weren't for the sex part, most of us would probably be beachbums.

You only have yourself to blame...

Seriously though, think of something you have passion for, and figure out a way to get paid for it...

I am fortunate enough to have realized that I will end up in your position a few years from now...

Everybody has their own unique key to happiness.

11/10 i feel the same way, just graduated in may and i have an awesome job too, but the idea of waking up and working for the man is lame. but i can't complain because it could be worse, i could be unemployed or not have any loved ones!

Life it what you make of it. Apparently you're not making much of it. Don't be afraid of a little risk, it's easier when you're young.

college was fun, but I could live without it. I enjoy normal life. Granted, a little more dough could help the bills that came because of college... but there is no homework to have to deal with. I can come home and enjoy and relax. Then again, I'm an introvert and don't need to go out 4 out of 7 days of the week to enjoy myself.

eh, to each his own. just have to make the most of what you have.

Change jobs. I don't mean quit, then start looking, I mean start looking and then move into something new. I'm just starting my fourth job since college. My first lasted five years when my company lost a big contract and my unit was folded. I was burned out anyway so the timing was perfect. My next job was a blast but because I wanted to live in a different part of the country I got another job. Now, I taken a new position with the same company, a sideways move, because I realized I was getting burned out on what I was doing after seven years. Being with the same company means continuity of benefits but I have new projects and completely different clients.

Some form of eng?

EE, it's not necessarily the job, just the form that life takes on by getting into the real world.

Welcome to the real world.

Remember everybody that said college was the best time of your life? They were right...weren't they?

I think you are suffering a quarter life crisis.

Just wait till you've been doing it for 30 years & realize you haven't saved enough for retirement.

I know a lot of people that will never be able to retire, they're going to have to work till they're unable to do so any longer...

Usually combination of choosing debit as a lifestyle & no retirement planning.

There's more to life than work, or rather there should be. Work should not get in the way of your personal life, which is the time when you should do just that--live. I know people who work 70-80 hours a week who find the time to party and enjoy life, so there's no excuse for not enjoying the non-working life.. if anything, the more miserable your job the more you should enjoy being away from it.

Don't think anyone can enjoy life working 80 hours a week.

Frankly, I'm not sure why the op can't enjoy life. Its nice coming home and not having homework to do. Its nice having the weekend to do whatever I want. Its nice getting that direct deposit every 2 weeks. It does suck to wake up but I got used to it.

What if you're on call and carry a pager all the time? Something goes wrong at 2 in the morning, you're the one who has to come in.

Check back when you're 30. 20s is easy to burn the candle at both ends.

If somebody fresh out is this surprised by the real world, a whole hell of a lot of life is gonna smack him down.

Essentially you develop a "I just don't care anymore" attitude. The quicker you learn this life lesson, the better.

As I said earlier, you need to perfect the "I just don't give a crap" attitude.

Work is work, when you're not at work you are not at work. If you honestly care about work when you're not there then you need to just let it go.
