If you got in you're smart enough to make it, you just have to work.
If you don't know many going I could always use another friend. Send a pm!

I went there on hope as well, but it was free free...atleast when I had hope, it didn't pay for books and they were damn expensive :|
let's just say South East region employers LOVE hiring tech grads...

Yup, and it makes the out-of-staters pretty mad. Doh, op is out of state. Oh well, it's still well worth it. That's why we've got people form all over.

Yup. Lots of the higher level tech people in charge of hiring are gatech grads themselves and (obviously) like to hire people who went to the same school they did. Not that they won't ignore everything about you, but it's a major plus. The school is revered around here.
EDIT: There's a lot of good programs here and I highly suggest you start looking at the coop program as soon as possible. If you're lucky you can get paid almost what entry-level grads make with a BS (well, for what part of the year you work). You can't beat the experience/pay/people you meet/etc. It's the best thing I've done here. People transfer here for the program.

I got into Georgia Tech for MSEE, but I probably won't be going there because they didn't give me any money - even though I think the education would be better
University of Texas is giving me a fellowship for a full ride+stipend..plus I have friends in Austin..so not much of a choice 🙂

Getting good grades at a ****** highschool is one of the easiest ways into a place like Georgia Tech. Keep telling yourself that, though.

I'm on a co-op this semester - getting $16/hr at GTRI - definately a good way to raise some coin. Then this summer, I'm taking classes in France because it's actually cheaper than studying in ATL (for out of state kids) 🙂

I really worked hard the past two years for mistakes I made in 9th grade and it really paid off! I can't believe I am going to this top tier school! I thought for sure I was going to end up staying in my hometown (boston) and going to Northeastern!!!!!!!! Anyone else go to tech and want to give me some advice? This is one of the most exciting days of my life!
congrats and welcome to the club 😉
tech is a great school, but the hot chick to nerd ratio is like 1:1000000000 😀
good luck!
Yes that was one of the things I was worreid about but I found out that emory campus is right next to it so hopefully I will find some hot girls there.

G-Tech is a top teir school?
IMO GT is better in many respects than MIT, berkeley, stanford et al for undergrad engineering. There is a lot of professor focus on undergrad teaching @ GT and the undergrad facilities are A++, from what I hear.
Pretty much any top 30 engineering school is better than MIT and Stanford for the reasons you mentioned - MIT and Stanford don't care about undegrads. At MIT, most of the undegraduate classes are taught by grad students, not profs.

Congratulations. 🙂
I graduated from Tech last year. Loved my years there.
Edit: And there's more attractive girls there than you think. Look in the school of International Affairs and/or Modern Languages.
