If you got in you're smart enough to make it, you just have to work.

If you don't know many going I could always use another friend. Send a pm!

GT + Hope Scholarship = $0 Tuition = Win

isn't that for us locals only?

I went there on hope as well, but it was free free...atleast when I had hope, it didn't pay for books and they were damn expensive :|

Yup, and it makes the out-of-staters pretty mad. Doh, op is out of state. Oh well, it's still well worth it. That's why we've got people form all over.

let's just say South East region employers LOVE hiring tech grads...

Yup. Lots of the higher level tech people in charge of hiring are gatech grads themselves and (obviously) like to hire people who went to the same school they did. Not that they won't ignore everything about you, but it's a major plus. The school is revered around here.

EDIT: There's a lot of good programs here and I highly suggest you start looking at the coop program as soon as possible. If you're lucky you can get paid almost what entry-level grads make with a BS (well, for what part of the year you work). You can't beat the experience/pay/people you meet/etc. It's the best thing I've done here. People transfer here for the program.

If you're not going for engineering don't waste your money.
CO-OP CO-OP CO-OP CO-OP oh and did i mention CO-OP
and undergraduate research (UROP) too
if you seriously don't make use of those two awesome programs you're really wasting golden opportunities.

I'm on a co-op this semester - getting $16/hr at GTRI - definately a good way to raise some coin. Then this summer, I'm taking classes in France because it's actually cheaper than studying in ATL (for out of state kids) 🙂

Congratulations. 🙂

I graduated from Tech last year. Loved my years there.

Edit: And there's more attractive girls there than you think. Look in the school of International Affairs and/or Modern Languages.

I <3 my University of Minnesota, guy girl ratio is better than 1:1 (in the favor of hte boyz). Sure its a state school, but it has decent science department and I may end up transferring and/or going to grad school somewhere else.

I got into Georgia Tech for MSEE, but I probably won't be going there because they didn't give me any money - even though I think the education would be better

University of Texas is giving me a fellowship for a full ride+stipend..plus I have friends in Austin..so not much of a choice 🙂

who are you? Me?
hahah...exact same thing

Getting good grades at a ****** highschool is one of the easiest ways into a place like Georgia Tech. Keep telling yourself that, though.

huh?
i graduated from Duke...go figure.
to me its all aribitray...GT is overly selective for out of state EE applicants. so props to OP

Yup, I've heard of that. I really want to study abroad one semester but I don't think I can leave the gf behind that long. If only she could come somehow...

congrats! i applied to GAtech and they offered me a great deal (they were barely beaten). Hope you enjoy your time there 🙂

I really worked hard the past two years for mistakes I made in 9th grade and it really paid off! I can't believe I am going to this top tier school! I thought for sure I was going to end up staying in my hometown (boston) and going to Northeastern!!!!!!!! Anyone else go to tech and want to give me some advice? This is one of the most exciting days of my life!

congrats and welcome to the club 😉

tech is a great school, but the hot chick to nerd ratio is like 1:1000000000 😀

good luck!

Yes that was one of the things I was worreid about but I found out that emory campus is right next to it so hopefully I will find some hot girls there.

Thanks for pointing out those priorities that are essential in college.
Find people in the major that have brains and that you get along with > hot girls.

G-Tech is a top teir school?

IMO GT is better in many respects than MIT, berkeley, stanford et al for undergrad engineering. There is a lot of professor focus on undergrad teaching @ GT and the undergrad facilities are A++, from what I hear.

Pretty much any top 30 engineering school is better than MIT and Stanford for the reasons you mentioned - MIT and Stanford don't care about undegrads. At MIT, most of the undegraduate classes are taught by grad students, not profs.

not from what i hear...

you might want to try rochester institute of technology in rochester, ny.

there are fellow ATOTers who go to RIT. 😀

Have fun! Good luck! You're gonna need it.

<-- 2002 Cum Laude Graduate / HOPE Scholar!

Edit: I too was a co-op. I worked for Delta Air Lines back in the 1999/2000 timeframe. I made good money as well as all the normal flight benefits. Was awesome for a college kid!

Agreed. Most of the women hang out in the MGT, INTA, IE, and CE majors from my observations.

I've only had 1 class taught by a grad student so far (and he was a Post-Doc).
