My sister, 22, partied through college, got a two year offer in a management consulting firm with annual salary of US $80,000 , this makes a normal engineer's salary pathetic (considering what we have to go through in collge).

Man I feel so bad.

i don't think so. It's all about the value someone adds to a company. Say if a consultant was hired for 10 grand, the results may equal 20% inrease in profit and 10% decrease in costs for said company... just a silly example, but its all about value.

what degree/school? yes though, i don't know why other companies hire management consultants to make obvious decision and charge a buttload

Management and Consultant are both synonyms for "High paid bureaucrat who actually is a detriment to the company"

There are some management training programs (GE has one, gov't jobs have them) that start you out at like $55k. You go through training for 2 years and come out with a much higher salary. Maybe THAT'S what she is doing. It's like fvcking business boot camp when you do that stuff...from what I hear it's NOT fun especially when you have to pull relocation crap like Phoenix-->Newark-->Cincinnati-->Dallas every 6 months.

Salary is directly proportional to looks. Therefore OP's sister = the hotness.

Pics. Now.

The thing about consultants is that often thier fees are paid not taxed and with no benefits. They are on thier own to get health insurance and such.

She doesn't have nearly enough experience to command a high salary as a consultant. She should consider herself very, very lucky.

IMO she's overpaid because she just graduated from school and has no experience...why the hell would you hire an unexperienced consultant.

No they are not.

What's even funnier is what the consulting company is billing for her. They're making their money regardless of what experience she has.

When she's working some ungodly number of hours a week, you won't be jealous.
