The police caught him yesterday.

I don't know if you should phrase it like that, he came wandering up the road back to the house. That's not exactly a manhunt. 😎

To the poster that made the gun comment, anyone with $50 can get a gun anytime they want...less if you feel like borrowing one or stealing one, which this guy had already done. I think a better choice than securing the family guns would be to carry them on your person...that way when methboy comes to kill you, you can defend yourself. Would suck to kill your own kid, but once you're a drug addict you're not really human anymore anyway, so that'd be some small comfort.

I've known 2 people who've been murdered (not killed in the line of duty). It's a sobering experience. My condolences to you and the family.

What the hell?

Sorry, that's my feeling on it (having dealt with addicts for most of my life both privately and professionally.

When you get married, have three kids, and the oldest (23) has a meth problem, ask yourself whether they're human or not. It doesn't matter whether they're on drugs or not; they can still change. A real parent would never give up on their child.

Been married, have kids. Doesn't change the fact that severe drug addictions remove the part of a person that make them who they are. They lose cognitive function, lose reason itself. They surrender their own personality and assume the personality of the substance. After a long addiction, there's absolutely nothing left that even resembles a human anymore. They become an animal who's only instinct is to get more drugs and even that instinct wars against psychosis brewing in them. No, sorry...I've been around these people most of my life, killing them is a relief...it frees them from pain, improves society, and in the end relieves a large weight from the shoulders of those saddened by their plight. It's true that rarely some people return from severe addiction, but statistically it's not a good bet. Furthermore that recovery is most often not paid for privately, which places on society the burdon of people too stupid and weak to avoid taking drugs in the first place. Nope, sorry...when you're so far gone that you'd kill your parents, it's time to check out yourself. I don't say it would be easy, but if my daughter ever reached that point I'd consider it compassionate to end her pain.

Wow - I'm around coke addicts, heroine addicts, meth addicts, pill poppers, potheads, crackheads, and others almost on a daily basis and when they're not high, they're normal human beings. I'm glad it's not up to you to freakin kill them. :frown:

Nik, I'm sorry for your loss, but why is it that you can't ever actually read what people post and take at least part of what they are saying to heart? PrinceofWands makes a good point, but you're picking it apart for some reason and can't be bothered to accept his experience and knowledge in the matter over your own ignorance.

You wonder why people flame you and it's because you're always an asshat to people and then when you come looking for compassion you get mad when people remember that you can be a d!ck and some don't show you that compassion. THEN when people offer their knowledge on the subject you just get into an argument with them.

Pulse8, I'm not looking for compassion, but taking a cheap shot and thread crapping in a legit thread isn't welcome. Since when am I supposed to sit by when someone talks their opinion at me and I'm not allowed to share my opinion back? He thinks one thing and said it. I think another thing and said it. Oh well.

If you're just expressing your opinion that differs from his, why the condescension in your replies?

I just get really frickin irritated when people say things that seem absurdly unthinkable. Killing someone just because they're addicted to drugs!?

If you really read what he posted, you'd see that he's responding to having to kill or be killed by your child because they are addicted to drugs. He is offering his rationalization to how he could do it if he had to because through his extensive experience with these people he doesn't feel they are human. You only take part of it, though, spin it around and then argue with him about it.

Try READING what these people are writing, don't be so elitist and maybe then you won't be so irritated by what they are trying to say.

I DO read what they have to say, pulse8. You're sugar coating part of what he was saying and completely ignoring the rest of what he was saying. Sounds exactly like what you're accusing me of.

Damn, Nik. Don't know much about you, but from what I see here, you have a boatload of enemies. You must have done somebody wrong............numerous times.
