They ship out the order but only give me one card and tell me that what I paid for was the price of ONE card, even though there was and you still can not find a listing for ONE SBLive card on any of their sites.

I argued with them for countless hours on the phone, explaining that it was their mistake and I would need some compensation for my time to make up for their mistake. They wouldn't comply, I got hung up a couple of times so I forwarded all my emails to my CC (AMEX) and figured they'd fight for me.

Yesterday I get a letter (snail mail) from my CC saying that I can't keep the card, but I can return it. So I try and log on to my Amazon account, what happends? I seem to be banned or deleted from their system. Hurray! They screwed up, I pointed it out, I'm banned! Anyway, I send them an email saying I don't want their POS Overpriced Card and would like my UPS Return Label.

Here's the response I get back:
Unfortunately, as it has been more than 30 days since you received
this item, we are not able to accept its return.

However I have a piece of documentation (heh, a printed email on AMEX letterhead) dated 5/17/2003 that I CAN return it. Seriously, WTF is Amazon trying to do here? This really pisses me off, they screw up and I have to pay for their mistake.

What, did you really think you were going to get 20 SBLives for $40? Cry me a river.

YES. He should get the 20 SBLives. Amazon should be forced to suck it up. Marking prices wrong to attract a ton of visitors to your site, getting all their names, numbers, addresses, email addresses, and then calling it a mistake is false advertising.

You never see a store advertising items for crazy prices on the window then calling it a mistake on the inside. I am sick of it always being the customer's fault in an online store.

Write letters. Leave a big long paper trail.

hey, *tard, b4 u hire a lawyer & sue the @ss of amazon,

I suggest u read their policy first.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/508088/102-6355470-2026519

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS

Amazon.com and its affiliates attempt to be as accurate as possible. However, Amazon.com does not warrant that product descriptions or other content of this site is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. If a product offered by Amazon.com itself is not as described, your sole remedy is to return it in unused condition.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/557204/102-6355470-2026519

Did you receive the wrong item? Visit the relevant order summary in Your Account and click the "Return an item" button near the bottom of the page. You will see a section at the bottom of the list of items in your order where you can indicate items that you didn't order. We'll ask you to indicate the number of items you're returning, as well as whether they arrived instead of or in addition to items that you did order. We will also ask you whether you would like a refund or a replacement sent to you.

and good luck with your lawsuit..

u may call it bait and switch but there is nothing u can do, large corporage are aware of the potential error, so go sue them.

I can't stop laughing when I see all *tard in FW planning to sue amazon... bah hahahaha...

Underneath, the resale link says, "21 used & new from $39.95." Better not have confused that to mean you can get 21 for 40 bux :p

This was a "high risk" investment. You were hoping for the big payoff, but ended up getting your ass handed to you. This is often the outcome with "high risk" invesments. Stick to CD's, you'll be happier. ;)

I returned my card to them when they said I had that option or to keep it. However, they didn't refund my money for quite a while. When I asked them about a month after they recieved the card, they said that since it had been so long they would just go ahead and credit me then.

It says as part of their shipping procedure, each order is inspected for errors. Yet my order went through, so theoretically, I should be entitled 19 more SoundBlaster Live cards.

The exact same thing happened to me (AMEX dispute rejected, Amazon told AMEX which told me I can return, Amazon account deleted, I cannot return). Except the amount was $27 because I used a coupon on it.

I just kept the card and moved on. Conclusion: I got a SB Live! 5.1 for $27. Maybe it will be useful in the future. I would rather buy this sound card I don't need than risk a permanent ban from Amazon and trouble from AMEX.

Amazon Pricing FAQ

Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. Rest assured, however, that we verify prices of products sold and shipped by Amazon.com as part of our shipping procedures.

- If an item's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and ship you the item.
- If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

Dude, you'll survive, really.
