and when nbc wants to throw some diversity in the coverage...they show a fucking marathon

ugh.

errmm... that's because a lot of the track and field events are just now past the qualifying rounds. Most people just want to see the stuff that matters.

C'MON SHAWN! .... .... C'MON SHAWN!

For me, when they focus too much on the "stories" at the expense of actual coverage of the events. There are thousands and thousands of hours of live action. Do I really want to hear from the Jamacian track team's assistant trainer?

oh god i agree. thats fricken annoying. NBC pretty much only shows events the US has a good chance in medeling. THAT pisses me off. sure show them but how about other events? even ones the US has no chance to win.

i really do not give a shit what struggles the athlete has gone through to get there. i want to see the best challenge each other.

ugh

NBC fucking sucks.

NBC's piss poor coverage on tv

I think it's been great. 8 different channels, one dedicated to Soccer, one to Basketball, 24 hours a day. Get rid of the stupid late night feel good stories and it would be perfect.

Having people whine about what they're watching on TV. Last I checked, TVs had both buttons to change channel and a mute button if you just want to be creepy and stare at 16 year olds in silence.

If you don't like it change the channel.

YEA WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not just NBC that does that, the BBC does it too.
Hell, they even talk about the freaking Aussies and Americans rather than showing events.
Luckily we have a choice of up to 6 different channels for Olympic coverage, and usually the other 5 are showing actual events.

when the faces of gymnasts are freakish as their bodies its pretty hard to watch.

no more phelps.. no more care lol

? They're little girls; they're not freakish.

14 hours of swimming/gymnastics coverage a day, while ignoring many less popular sports. The marketing machine is already gearing up for Phelps mania in London..

I have to say I'm pretty sick of Phelps. I know what he did was amazing, but the number of recaps, interviews, etc. was just too much. I like to watch the actual events, not all of the surrounding BS.

Way too many commercials. Too many of the same commercials. However, people whining about not enough variety aren't changing to the other channels, or going online. Sorry to say it, but gymnastics, Michael Phelps, and May/Walsh produce the highest ratings.

That's why I stuck mainly to watching rowing when it was on, and when it wasn't I switched off the TV. The reason they're sticking to Gymnastics/Swimming on the main channel is because the events are short and intense, therefore keeping the audience full of people with short attention spans happy. And besides...don't want to watch it, fine, wait the hour or two and then watch it from your PC w/o any of the commentary.

Commentary = Fluff/Distraction = Crap

I find the background sob stories narrated by Bob Costas or whoever to be far worse. I remember I wanted to punch John Tesh's face through the damn TV in the '96 Atlanta games, it was so bad.

Concur. Why compete if the deck is stacked?

  • Chinese cheating age fiasco
Chinese vaulter who takes a knee landing and still wins
The uneven bars tiebreaking schill (USA takes silver with same score)

the scoring thing wasn't a schill, they take off the lowest score from the judge and average it again. thats the rules.

Unless I'm mistaken there was one swimming event where two countrys had the same exact score for third and a bronze medal ws awarded for each of them.

You'd think that'd be the same across the board (all events)
